Baron-Of-Hell Posted August 25, 2002 Hello and welcome to my latest poll! I have only played these four megawads and don't know of any others so my favourite megawad is Memento Mori I! I like this even more than Doom II, don't know why, I just find it more enjoyable... 0 Share this post Link to post
Naked Snake Posted August 25, 2002 /me adds "Other" option I like them all. 0 Share this post Link to post

Grazza Posted August 25, 2002 Yep, "Other". Methinks this won't be such an informative poll. 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted August 25, 2002 Besides missing Requiem, this poll also missed Alien Vendetta, which I haven't finished but which has been frigging incredible so far. I think AV might be the best Doom 2 megawad ever, and it's doom2.exe compatible which is even more amazing. 0 Share this post Link to post

Great wad. 0 Share this post Link to post
mmnpsrsoskl Posted August 25, 2002 I got to about Map03 before I gave up :P /me dusts off AV and gives it a go again 0 Share this post Link to post
m0l0t0v Posted August 25, 2002 There must be a lot more! Anyone know any fairly unknown megawads? maybe personal ones? 0 Share this post Link to post
Lost Soul Posted August 25, 2002 I was not too impressed by requiem... Memento Mori, though. I haven't finished that but I think it's great. Also, where is the Stone Stratagems button????? 0 Share this post Link to post
Epyo Posted August 25, 2002 Icarus rulez...Im gonna go play it some more now... 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted August 25, 2002 Doom: 2002ado (I just finished this and nearly creamed me panties, it takes skill to capture the essence of all 4 episodes) Doom2: Alien Vendetta (feat. Mishri Halek: the daddy), closely followed by Memento Mori. 0 Share this post Link to post

I can suggest the following: Fragport (FRAGPORT.WAD) by Stephen Clark (Ultimate DooMer) Demonfear (DMONFEAR.WAD) by Adam Windsor World of Deth (WORLD.WAD) by Morten Stromsvold All not too well known, all worth playing, and all one-man efforts. My favourite megawad is Hell Revealed (of course!), with Alien Vendetta a close-ish second. I love 2002 ADO too. The four that are listed in the poll are all great though. 0 Share this post Link to post

One thing though: after I'd pulped Tommy Trooper with the BFG and realized Stephanie was in the same room, I expected a message to pop up "You have killed Stephanie - Mission Failed". 0 Share this post Link to post

The only thing that let 2002ado slightly down was the appalling spelling and grammar on the title screen and credits, something I'd offer to help with btw. I already changed my copy of the .deh :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted August 25, 2002 pritch said:except she's a texture, not a sprite :P You mean I went through all that just to get a picture of her?! Still, I'm sure they could have set it up so that any damage to "Stephanie" triggered (e.g.) an instant-death squisher to lower. pritch said:The only thing that let 2002ado slightly down was the appalling spelling and grammar on the title screen and credits, something I'd offer to help with btw. I already changed my copy of the .deh :P Yes, that was a shame. In another thread, Myk mentioned that he had sent Paul Corfiatis a corrected .deh, so hopefully all will be well in the final release. 0 Share this post Link to post
Psyrus Posted August 25, 2002 Momento Mori II, Requiem, and Darkening E2 so far.Lost Soul said:...Also, where is the Stone Stratagems button????? Are you kidding me? 0 Share this post Link to post
Ichor Posted August 25, 2002 Memento Mori 2 (of course) The first two thirds of Alien Vendetta. Why not the last third? Being constantly surrounded by about 20 Revenants, 5 Arch Viles, or 30 Hell Knights, when you have about 10 shells left is not my idea of fun. 2002ado (what I've played of it so far) Strain Gulag for Heretic Caldera for Hexen I would include my own creations, but I'd rather not. It seems kind of silly for me to suggest my own maps as my favorite. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kid Airbag Posted August 25, 2002 Gotta go with MM/MM2. AV was incredible, but the first two are absolute classics. 0 Share this post Link to post

AV & Doom2.exe: apparently there are issues with savegames in many of the maps (believable), and there are sometimes so many "things" that the engine can't display them all (I'm sure there's a word for this phenomenon, but I don't know it). This is very apparent if, e.g., you watch a Doom2.exe demo for Map 32. 0 Share this post Link to post
999cop Posted August 26, 2002 Hell Revealed and Hell Revealed II are important as well! 0 Share this post Link to post
