some things I'm wondering about Doomworld.

Is it ok to advertise Doomworld outside of Doomworld in a non-spammy way? How does the site run and pay for costs? Is there a way user's can contribute? who can I talk to about these things? Like many regulars here I'm quite partial to this site so these things interest me.

I pay $x/month to a company for a virtual private server. The /idgames database has a banner ad which offsets that cost, more or less.
