How do I change the drum kit in a MIDI song?

I'm trying to compose some MIDI songs, but the drums (channel 10) only have the "default" sounds (two snares and two kicks, for example)

Some songs in Ancient Aliens, even using the default Microsoft MIDI set, doesn't have the default MIDI snare and kick (for example, e01m03). Do I need to configure something to get these different kits?

The kit is changed by changing channel 10's instrument number.
