Blastfrog Posted October 6, 2016 Despite being limited by the vanilla target, we actually have room for one more animated set of flats. The engine supports SWATER1-4. If we get an extra animation, what should it be? Preferably something other than water. 0 Share this post Link to post
AxelMoon Posted October 6, 2016 Maybe bubbling mud or something like a floor light? Hell. Why not Quicksand? We do have Egyptian themed textures for plutonia or so, no? 0 Share this post Link to post
Xindage Posted October 6, 2016 Some choices. Mystical teleport pads (like heretic). Monitors. Animated lights. Enginerys. Ice/Glass whit animated water below. Some TNT like switchs animated to floor. (like in Epic) 0 Share this post Link to post

Voros Posted October 6, 2016 Also we've got the Aquatex texture pack now, so the following options are available: Lava Nukage Green water Blue water Dirty(?) water Electricity/whatever it is 0 Share this post Link to post
AxelMoon Posted October 7, 2016 I'd say the Lava from aquatex then. Wait.. shit. you're right. we already have lava. 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted October 7, 2016 No, we already have lava flats. If we take anything from Aquatex, my suggestion is the electricity. 0 Share this post Link to post
Voros Posted October 7, 2016 I'm also leaning towards electricity, cause its different and unique from Doom. So, is that final?Protox said:Ice/Glass whit animated water below. I'd like to see this made. 0 Share this post Link to post

Voros Posted October 7, 2016 Is SWATER Doom 2 specific, Doom 1 specific, or both? 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted October 7, 2016 Short answer: Both. Long answer: Animated textures and flats are hardcoded into the engine and work with both games, no restrictions (unlike actors, where Doom 2 stuff is specifically blacklisted from being in Doom 1 in vanilla). In fact, the SWATER flats are from the Doom 1 beta. 0 Share this post Link to post

AxelMoon Posted October 7, 2016 But will they actually animate? Or will they fall under the same realm of vanilla Doom 2's waterfall issue? 0 Share this post Link to post

AxelMoon Posted October 7, 2016 Sorry. Misinformation on my end. Lack of sleep. ^^; 0 Share this post Link to post
Voros Posted October 8, 2016 Maybe you should test it out. See if the SWATER flats really work in vanilla Doom, at least properly that is. 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Werecat Posted October 8, 2016 Why woudn't they? They're no different from other animated flats. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted October 8, 2016 Of course they work, and there wasn't really a need to question it, but here is a test wad anyway. 0 Share this post Link to post
Voros Posted October 8, 2016 Alright thanks. Added SWATER to my branch along with many Aquatex textures. 0 Share this post Link to post
Voros Posted October 8, 2016 I couldn't help myself, but I had to see how this thing would look like: 0 Share this post Link to post
