invictius Posted November 3, 2016 As in, a street light or something, projecting the light downwards onto a spot? Also, wasn't there a map that's totally in monochrome? Maybe something like: 0 Share this post Link to post
Officer D Posted November 3, 2016 Lunatic had great lighting. https://www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/56593-lunatic-wad-idgames-download-available/ InstaDoom has color filters. https://www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/71767-cacoward-approved-instadoom-screw-nofilter-final-woty-edition-released/ 0 Share this post Link to post
40oz Posted November 3, 2016 Cant remember exactly but I think hellbound (like in dwmegawad club) has some city levels with streetlights in it. The lighting in the wad is pretty good but not necessarily realistic. I'd probably look to some of Malcolm Sailors work in Talosian Incident to see realistic lighting against low-detail environments. 0 Share this post Link to post
Not Jabba Posted November 3, 2016 I was just looking at AV map 01 last night for some inspiration, and that level has a huge amount of attention to light direction and cast shadows. 0 Share this post Link to post

Memfis Posted November 3, 2016 In A.L.T. a lot of care was put into lighting, mostly by BeeWen who touched up most of the levels after they were made. He would often add 1-unit wide sectors so that just a part of a wall could have a different brightness level. It really added a lot to the mood. Try Map03, for example. 0 Share this post Link to post
