Doom is evil!!!

Heh, no, I didn't say it, but these child-safty LUNATICS, called the Lion and the Lamb project say Doom is violent. Well, DUH, that is why there is a fucking rating on the box. Anyway, take a look at this site.

NO I DO NOT DISAGREE THAT WHAT CHILDREN ARE EXPOSED TO SHOULD BE MONITORED BUT THAT SHIT IS JUST TO DAMN MUCH.

The problem lies in these bloody uppity, self-riteous groups who believe that they know what's right for everyone, regardless of the thoughts of the individuals (parents) in question.

Ok - i'm only one person - but i've been watching films like Robocop and Aliens since i was about 10. Rather than disturbing me, i've found it's inspired me into creativity.

Unfortunatly, (as i've already mentioned) people believe they know what's right for us.
Hopefully people will take this with a pinch of salt.

I don't understand! How many people really stop their children from playing these games? and how many children are damaged because of it, if people think that doom is "evil" then the news should be banned for life, you can't put the news on without some scene of war, murder, abduction or worse, and this is considered ok! So, let me get this straight...we want to expose our children to the horror's of the world but we don't want them playing a harmless, unrealistic and mind opening game! many people have been inspired after playing doom, I think it was DSM who said this, Doom inspires people to draw and to write! So what is the harm in that, I would rather have my kids indoors playing doom that going outside to get involved with the bad shit out there in the world!

The "12 Toys to Avoid" seems way off. There are way worse things they could have put on that list. *cough* Grand Theft Auto 3 *cough*. Then I started to read the "Why we chose it" texts.

We really should e-mail these people and tell them in a NON-OFFENSIVE WAY about how we feel as Doom players.

Yes, the ones with sense anyway. If we write to them saying "YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS" they'll take us as "violent idiots" but if we write to them all nice-like then they may listen to us.

fact 1. humans are naturaly violent. most young boys have a fasination with violnece which is normal. now there is a difference in these products and doom. one doom is rated M and these toys are not. this is just a bunch of BS. these are the same people who made hairy poter the top of the most offensive books, while they also made hitler's book 110 or so as well as other rasist, violent and truely disturbing litterature.

In my opinon, you are wrong to list certain games, such as "Doom" for the "Game Boy Advanced" hand-held entertainment system. Doom has a T for Teen rating which means that if you are not 13 years or older, you should NOT play that game. Don't you think that at the age of 13 a teen should have already been exposed to violent media? As long as you shield them from violence, the more harm it does. They NEED to know about violence, they NEED it to develop. Why? If you shield them from it, it will shock them more if they see it at a later age. No, it does not, we don't know what REALLY caused a lot of kids to go off and blast students but yes, bullying was a big factor in most cases. IMO, it was parents not teaching their kids certain things as well.

Fuck them. Doom will always remain evil in the eyes of the busy-bodied simpleton. On that note, i too would be considered evil by these types...Good.

The only reason why I strongly believe that kids do those kinds of things is because of vengence. The shooter might have been so confused and pissed, he had no other choice than to kill everyone. Personally, if I had a kid that was killed by another kid who went on a shooting spree, I wouldn't give a damn. Three reasons for that:

1. Because I hate kids and I wouldn't want any when I grow up, thus making it obvious that this thing wouldn't apply to me.
2. Because I'd side with the shooter's family and blame it on the parents of the other student's for not making them learn about respect towards other people, no matter what they look like or who they are.
3. Because the real killers are the kids who provoked the shooter. THEY are the ones who should get punished.

I don't really believe it's the parents' fault because some of these cases have the kid come from a good family, yet he/she still goes on a killing spree. I also believe that the shooter is usually sane because same goes with the above. The shooter sometimes come from a perfectly normal family and is usually sane. That is what I think about how school shootings happen.

Dude, these fucks need to lighten the fuck up. God, Doom is a nearly ten year old game, for crying out loud. But, of course, games like Soldier of Fortune that ten times the violence, blood, and gore of Doom are left alone. That figures pretty heavy. And like Vampirajay said, the news shows of people who've shot other people, and the news shows pics of Israel and/or Palestine getting the hell blown out of it, but that is left alone.

That's a possibility... But hey, anything to do with kids shooting up schools will usually get on the news. I wouldn't really care if I.... I hate how the depiction of violence in media is causing all this trouble for kids. So i'm gonna join this cute little website and keep all of this stuff away from my kid, just so it makes a bigger impact when he's older and does it on his own.
Besides, being sheltered at home is the only safety for my child when he goes to school and learns out about our brutal, muderous, bloody past. More terrible then any video game, music, or tv show can even hope to be.

BigbadGansta, i TOTALLY disagree with you. I think the cause they stand for is totally wrong, and imo fascistic. We should not respect people who think freedom of speech and creativity is worthless. they have the WRONG idea totally.

time to write about. As you may or may not have figured out, the world is not
perfect. Sometimes the only place for people to take out their anger is by
blasting a block of pixels on their computer screens. Just as much, some of
these games such as Doom and Metal Gear Solid have inspired great artwork
where the artist can express their feelings and show their talent. To take
away such things would leave the world devoid of such creativity. Some people
even write stories based on these games, and I have seen literary skills
improve which each story written. I can't control what you people do with
your kids, how you regulate them, or if you are over protective of your
children and don't let them see the real world, but I suggest you let things
be. "The only way to win is to not play" would be a good saying for this
situation. So before you say something like, "These games have driven young
people to kill their friends" remember that these children were seriously
disturbed before they did anything wrong, and should have been helped by
responsible adults who care for their children.

BBG is right. The only way to have someone see your point of view (which is the only real point of sending the letter, right?) is to show them you're mature about the subject, and that you respect their views, but still believe they are incorrect.
