Pelle1986 Posted March 24, 2017 I wonder how I make a switch (or another trigger) affect something in another map? Can I do it without scripting? 0 Share this post Link to post
Nevander Posted March 24, 2017 Not without scripting as far as I know. ACS_Execute can be used to run a script on the next map, check out the example on this page: https://zdoom.org/wiki/ACS_Execute 0 Share this post Link to post

No. Furthermore, you have to set up your maps as hubs. This has been used extensively in HEXEN. 0 Share this post Link to post

Albertoni Posted March 26, 2017 Have you ever played Hexen? You can go back and forth between levels, and the game saves how you left a level, which monsters you killed, which buttons you pressed, etc. That's a hub. Have you ever used MAPINFO before? Basically you put "cluster = 1" in each map definition, and when you declare that cluster, you just put "hub" in its own line. Here's the documentation and an example: https://zdoom.org/wiki/MAPINFO https://github.com/rheit/zdoom/blob/master/wadsrc/static/mapinfo/doom2.txt 0 Share this post Link to post
Kappes Buur Posted March 26, 2017 Rex made a tutorial about setting up hub levels http://doomnexus.drdteam.org/Tutorial/hubs.html I made a simple 3 map example pwad to show how easy it is and included a switch in map03 to open a door in map02. http://www.mediafire.com/file/bshtjbxb9f2bb9k/teleport02.WAD Check it out by playing and dissecting with Slade3. 0 Share this post Link to post
Pelle1986 Posted March 26, 2017 Thank you very much! Now I know what a hub is, it's like the center of a wheel. My English is just too poor. Right now I am setting up a Hexen scenario/map and I figured out how to make different map contected to each other my using "save map into..." and it worked fine. I am still trying to make a switch open a door by using a script. I asked about this in another topic... I just cannot find what I have done wrong. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kappes Buur Posted March 26, 2017 It is easy to make a door by selecting the appropriate sector and pressing Shift+D. While this attaches linedef specials to the door linedefs and sets a trigger, they can be eliminated by setting the linedef specials to 0. From there just activate the door with a switch or crossing a linedef elsewhere. 5 minutes ago, Pelle1986 said: I just cannot find what I have done wrong. Upload your pwad and somebody can take a look at it. 0 Share this post Link to post
