doors

Highlight sector and press shift +D. That's the easiest way. Otherwise you select the showing textures in lindef mode and in the edit lindef window you will give it an action. You can get a list by selecting the small box to the right of the entry field. In that will be a last of different door actions. 

Which format are you mapping for?

gzdoom:doom just says doom2 and thats it

I actually watched a good bit of this guys Doom editing videos a while back. He's quite decent at what he does imo.
