Roger Moore dead at 89

Recommended Posts

Octopussy is one of my favorite Bond films, despite the handful of terrible gags. Godspeed, old chap.

I don't care what they say.  Roger Moore was a fine Bond and a great actor.  Hell, his Bond films were on the weirder side, and I loved that.  I mean come on.  Moonraker?  Fucking awesome.  The enemy Jaws?  Brilliant.

Quite a loss.

Devastated to hear- he had some of the best movies of the series. Listening to the best theme from his best film in tribute.

I didn't know Roger Moore too much to be honest, but seeing how he played James Bond for some of the 007 movies, it's a shame that he's gone. I haven't watched many of the 007 movies (even though I want to see more of them), I do really like the theme song to Moore's first 007 movie Live and Let Die (1973). My condolences go to his friends and family.

I am very saddened to hear of his death upon waking up. I always watched all the Bond films since I was young and while he may not have been my favorite Bond I still recognized him as one of the best. Rest in Peace, Sir. Roger Moore. I will have to watch through all his films again.

Roger Moore famous for his role as James Bond has died at the age of 89.

What?????

NO, THIS CAN'T BE REAL!!!   :(

He was in my 3 favourite Bonds list, along with Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton (Dalton had only 2 movies, but I still liked him as a Bond).

Oh man, I was all happy this day and then I saw this.

What can I say? May he be happy in the place he went to. Rest in peace, one of the greatest actors in the role of Bond!

I was never too crazy on Roger Moore as Bond, although I at least somewhat enjoyed all of the movies that he appeared in (including View to a Kill and Moonraker). I think my problem with him as Bond is that he never gave me the sense that he was ever in any danger. Sean Connery always emoted just the right level of fear, but Moore's overconfidence made it hard for me to suspend my disbelief.

Each actors brought their own aspects to the character. Which is a good thing imo. Sean Connery was excellent as well. They were all good in some manners. I just had a little personnal preference for Roger Moore's interpretation.

I'm going to have to disagree with that. Timothy Dalton, Barry Nelson, and David Niven were all flat out terrible as Bond.

Now I saw the: <<Timothy Dalton was terrible post.>> and I wholeheartedly disagree. I think he had really memorable scenes in his movies. Seriously though, who could forget the gruesome deaths in License to Kill or when Bond lit the petrol covered Sanchez on fire with the lighter the couple gifted him in the start of the movie. Plus the chase scene with his rocket mounted Aston Martin was awesome, especially when Bond said: <<We have nothing to declare>>, while passing the borders, riding a cello with the girl near him.

If those weren't cool scenes in a movie, then I don't know what is.

Dalton maybe wasn't the greatest bond, but at least the movies were good anyway, and he did well in those. So i don't really have something negative to say about him.

But anyway, it's a thread in memory of Roger Moore, and i think he was superb as bond. They're all classics and may he rest well. After multiple times listening these movies, definitely my favorites bonds films with him.

And to be quiet honest, i like every bond film from the first t'ill i guess the 00s. I mean, when Q left.

License to Kill bored me quite a bit, to me it felt more like one of those 80's undercover cop drug bust moves than a James Bond film.

I completely agree. Felix seemed awfully cheerful after his wife was just murdered, and he was fed to a shark. How did he survive having his entire body mauled by a shark while he dangled from a rope? And why did the bad guys allow him to live after that? Why was Bond so candid about discussing his plans to bust Sanchez in a casino that Sanchez owned? Surely, he had to figure that Sanchez was watching him. Why is Pam Bouvier so clueless and annoying? Why did Roger Ebert give this trainwreck three and a half stars? I don't get it.

Oh man, that was something I really didn't like. I love seeing the old Q in Bond movies.

Right. It seems I got carried away, talking about Dalton in the wrong thread.

I was looking to see if anyone made a thread about the dead Allman, but this took me by surprise. RIP Moore. I preferred Connery as Bond as it happens, but Moore was a legend in his own right. Seeing him gone is very sad.

"That is a rare photo of Sean Connery signed by Roger Moore. It is worth 150 dollars."

Roger Moore was also great in 'The Saint' television series (Not to be confused with the terrible late 90s movie remake). If you enjoyed his Bond films, then I would highly recommend watching the series:
