Favorite Song in Doom/Doom 2?

Recommended Posts

Map 01: Running Fron Evil is a timeless classic. I wish there was a WAD that replaced all music and sound with D_Runnin. It really is a masterpiece that I love listening to.

There have been some pretty awesome remakes of E1M8, but judging it on the original MIDI version alone it's definitely not my favourite. Difficult to pick one really, maybe The Demons from Adrian's Pen (E2M2).

As for Doom II, a tossup between DOOM (MAP05/13), Into Sandy's City (MAP09), and Message for the Archvile (MAP20/26).

edit: argh, yeah E2M7's a good one too.

Edited by Eris Falling : forgot about E2M7!

Hard to say, to be honest. But I guess I'll go with... E1M9 and MAP07

Doom 1 - E1M4. Runners up: E1M6, E1M9, E3M3.

Doom 2 - MAP10. Runner up: Intermission (the "level finished" screen, not the "story text" screen).

D_RUNNIN,because the strongest ones can listen it all the time through testing phase. For serious note, I love Shawn's got the Shotgun and Getting to Tense.

There are too many awesome ones in the first game! I can't just pick one, you know?

About Doom 2, Running from Evil and Getting Too Tense steal the show for me (couldn't pick just one either lol).

hmmmm, I guess im the only one that likes Alice in Chains :-P.

fun fact: Some songs are a little bit different sounding in the Macintosh port. For example The Demons Dead (MAP16) has two different versions. And some levels actually have no music at all, e.g. The Spirit World (MAP28) and Grosse (MAP32). I don't know why though

E1M3, I always kinda "sing along" when I hear it, also the remix in Doom: Damnation was the best MIDI I've ever heard

MAP18, frequently use it for testing Doom 2 maps before I put in any actual music

I remember there's one similar thread somewhere...

Ult: E1M8 (E3M4, E4M1) > E2M7 (E3M7, E4M?)

D2: Map08 (14,22) > Map07 (19,29)

TNT: Map20 > Map10 (18)

E1M1

Map 01/15

Map 10/16

(Don't know the track names)

Kind of boring answers but I like music that's fast, aggressive, and gets my blood pumping to kick some demon ass. Don't get me wrong, Doom/Doom 2 has excellent music all around, but these are my standouts.

I can't pick any Doom 1 midi as my favourite, all of them are cool and makes me feel nostalgic.

From Doom II, map27's midi is my favourite.

Do Final Doom midis count? No? Ok I don't care, my all time favourite is Death Bells.

Doom 1's E1M3
Doom 2's MAP01
TNT's MAP04 (technically Final Doom is just another Doom 2)

these are my current favorites, they change from time-to-time

DOOM: Deep Into The Code - awesome Behind The Crooked Cross intro!

DOOM II: Into Sandy's City - again, i love the intro. it gives off a nice, creepy vibe right from the start.

After re-listening to all Doom II tracks, I can conclude that both DOOM (maps 5, 13) and Waiting for Romero to play (as said previously) are my truly favourites from that sequel.
