Doomguy should've died in the first game (maybe) (Weird theory)

Recommended Posts

If we think about Doomguy going around the UAC facilities with the same lack of skill and absence of the self-preservation instinct of a first-time player, he wouldn't have survived for long.

But of course, in a real life situation you wouldn't be running around dodging fireballs because it makes you look cool, you'd be careful as all hell instead, keeping your distance from enemies and taking cover whenever necessary. Also, Doomguy isn't a random guy, he's a marine trained for combat, but even then, would it be enough to survive against an unknown enemy?

Doomguy is stucked into endless loop of same events and he can't rest until hell will be vanished with him. It's worse than death.

Doomguy did die...remember Phobos Anomaly?

Well, yes, but we could say that's an exception.

If we follow a logical explanation for the game....then how is it possible that Doomguy appears in the shores of Hell (Deimos Anomaly) if the teleport in Phobos is just that, a lone teleport. It's like that Hell messed with your head.

you see, doomguy manages to make it through the game alive because the troops that went in first thinned the enemy numbers to just precisely enough for a single man to finish the job.

this is also why plutonia is so hard. the enemy this time was only thinned by a small crew of security people who didn't last very long, and the doomguy goes in first before the reinforcements arrive to thin down the numbers. it still worked out pretty well though.

Since the Phobos Anomaly teleporter led into another dimension outright, there could've been a brief few moments where Doomguy was conscious of his passage through some nightmarish "dimension" between dimensions to get there.

To the OP, he only survived because his tales were told from a universe where he had the sheer dumb luck to survive, there are countless other parallel universes where he has died to every cause possible. Realities also exist where Doomguy happens to be a demigod who knows by foresight the location of all his enemies, and some timelines happen to have actual 'gods' who take a liking to him and make him invincible.

That is, if the games are related to each other, linked between those stories (remember that Doom 2016 is like a reboot but that's for another topic). That's just for adding more lore to it...

I don't really think he died, I think the demons were messing with his mind.

I'm pretty sure Doomguy is dead in the first game. He's a former human infighting with other enemies. That would explain why there is no one else alive other than him.

I think Phobos Anomaly was to end the shareware while leaving the guys in suspense.

Also, Doom 1 has a line that reads "You are one of earth's toughest marines" which could mean he underwent training to reach such a status, also, what if he is blessed by God? When you think of it, it kinda makes sense, because, why else could he be able to use teleporters without suffering Mental/Physical damage? Why was he the only guy who wasn't possesed? Why can he use those spheres and get power ups from them? Also, spiritual armor that only Doomguy can use makes more sense when we think of it this way.
