Give me a break I am a rookie

Hey I was wondering were I can find the software to make my own doom levels. Could some body tell me how to get it and what it is called ? I know this sounds stupid but I am a rookie so give me a break thank you.

what to recommend depends upon your OS...

well there is the simple wadauthor. you can also try deepsea which is more complex, but I'm told is more powerful. those seem to be the most popular. if you want to go deeper you can use wintex for extracting and editing sounds, music and grapics. there is also xwe which does some of the same stuff wintex does, but also allows you to build and compile scripts, among other things. it also can be used for many fps games.

DCK is extremely easy, except you need straight DOS. Hey, no handicapp for me, I can play my version of ZDoom 1.17 just fine in dos. Rant-etc.

1.17 ??? We're now at 1.23b33, why still play the old 1.17 ?

I got both versions. One for playing doom in dos, and the other, you get the idea.

If you plan on making your own textures i would recomend Paint Shop Pro as well :)
