question about naming screenshots

Recommended Posts

Taking screenshots in GZDoom results in an image with the name Screenshot_Doom_date_time.

Is there a way to append or replace with, the name of the pwad from which the screenshot was taken.

Having to open the screenshot in another app and saving with the new name is rather bothersome.

Just right click on the picture and rename it.

You don't have to save it with another app.

I believe Windows Explorer (or some other file management program) counts as an application, for the OP's purposes.

Having only briefly checked documentation, I see no method to programmatically change the screenshot naming scheme for GZDoom. You can, however, easily sort the screenshots by subdirectory, which may be sufficient for your purposes. From the ZDoom Wiki:

Quote

The screenshot_dir variable, if not empty, will determine where screenshots are written by default. If empty, ZDoom's home directory is used; or the C:\ZDOOMDAT. The -shotdir parameter can also be used and overrides the CVAR.

So, for example, you can open up the console, type set screenshot_dir "this_pwad", and your screenshots will be stored in a subdirectory of your GZDoom folder called "this_pwad". You can also use gzdoom.exe -shotdir "this_pwad" on startup to do the same thing.

Until a proper naming scheme is programmed, this will work quite nicely.

Thank you.
