Doom/Quake style metal for you to use in your mods!

Recommended Posts

Hi! I made an album called Strangehold full of Doom/Quake style instrumental metal music that I want to share with you to use in your Doom/Quake mods.
The only thing I ask in return is that you credit me (Connor O.R.T. Linning) and link to www.connorlinning.com
You can check out the album on
Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw1sXfhSyq0
Bandcamp: https://connorortlinning.bandcamp.com/album/stranglehold
And here's a mediafire link so you can download the album and use it: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4omkeu4ank84wxr/Connor+O.R.T.+Linning+-+Stranglehold+(2017).zip
Hope you dig it! - Connor

You could drop any of these tracks directly into Quake II and they would work as well as the Sonic Mayhem originals. Great stuff.

Hi, I downloaded and listened to your album and I have to say, it is really good šŸ˜ƒ BUT, there is a bit of an issue regarding using the songs in a wad, and that involves looping. According to the zdoom wiki MP3 does not support looping which is a bit of an issue since the songs only come in MP3 and FLAC and imo while Flacs are good for listening to on their own they are pretty big and so if you put a flac in a wad it will get considerably larger which is definitely something to take into consideration especially since I believe idgames has a size limitation for wads. I think the mp3s in the zip should be oggs instead because of this, this way you have a nice big good quality file to listen to on your own and a nice small file to use in your map which won't shoot up the size too much.

I don't see any looping tags in the FLAC files. Unless you think that an MP3 track will only play once in ZDoom, which is not true. In any case, convertingĀ lossless tracks to OGG is trivial.

That is a misunderstanding, MP3 does not support looping tags, that is to say, metadata telling the game when to loop the music, which means that when an MP3 is looped it will always be from the end to the beginning.

Ā

Looping tags can be used to have the song have an intro and/or outro that are not repeated when looped.

I like this, by the way. Reminds me of Painkiller about as much as it reminds me of Quake 2. Well, maybe not quite. If I was making a campaign for either of those games, I'd definitely consider including these.
