Aqfaq Posted October 6, 2017 Maybe this can be done with a long tunnel and teleports to offset the shots, so that all the projectiles overlap precisely? What happens if we hit a zombieman with 100 BFG shots? Or 100 rockets? Has something like this been done before? What happens if we hit a monster with two rockets from the opposite sides, or from 4 directions at once? Which direction does the corpse fly? I suppose this can be tested easily with a coop TAS on a simple map made for this purpose? 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 6, 2017 You can make a dehacked patch so that the BFG fires a hundred shots at once. That said, as far as the engine is concerned, the projectiles will never overlap perfectly. The engine will still generate them one at a time, move them one at a time, detect collision for them one at a time, and so on. So what would happen would be that the zombieman would be killed by the first projectile, and then the 99 others would continue on their merry way. 3 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted October 6, 2017 What would happen is that the first shot would hit the zombieman, kill it, and the remaining 99 would just keep going like normal. edit: screw you Gez!!! 0 Share this post Link to post
reflex17 Posted October 6, 2017 whoa whoa, guys guys, hold your horses would you? I think maybe we need to talk about a thing that the pro gamers call "responsible ammo usage" I will await MLG status confirm but I have a feeling that IDKFA is not sanctioned for tournament usage??? everyone knows that doom doesn't use 'actual code', Tom Hall climbs in your computer and makes the magic lazers to go boom boom, not true???? D-: it is fun to learn about the game secrets 2 Share this post Link to post
Aqfaq Posted October 7, 2017 Thanks for the answer. I forgot about that mechanic because of my on-off relationship with Doom. What happens if we give the zombieman enough health to survive 99 BFG hits? How fast does the corpse move from the 100th hit? 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 7, 2017 That depends entirely on randomness, damage inflicted by the killing blow, and the killed monster's mass. So whether it's a regular zombieman killed by a single shot, or a damage spongy one killed by the hundredth, that wouldn't change much. 0 Share this post Link to post
