I was 6 when the NES came out, I believe. I remember the OG console war: Genesis vs SNES. Console wars were dumb then, and they're dumb now. *puffs pipe in rocking chair*

The OG console war happened before the NES. I remember Atari 2600 vs Colecovision vs Intellivision. My family wound up with an Intellivision. I still have it, in my garage.
