scorpion Posted October 28, 2002 How about using a webpage editor? Microsoft Word, Frontpage or Corel Webdesigner are fine choices to make decent web pages without having to know HTML! 0 Share this post Link to post

scorpion Posted October 28, 2002 Sparky/Some_dude: Newbish sites? Ok, of course you'll have to know what a "good" site looks like ;-) If you look at some of the DooM-related websites, you'll see that most of them start out kinda... 'newbish' (I hate that word, I always say "there's a 1st time for everything"), but get their status of 'coolness', gradually (as long as you keep working on and updating your website ofcourse)! Good luck ;-) 0 Share this post Link to post
Ichor Posted October 28, 2002 I've always use good ol' Notepad to make my websites. 0 Share this post Link to post
scorpion Posted October 28, 2002 Me too, the tip was for ppl who don't know/wanna learn HTML coding... lazy ppl;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Ichor Posted October 28, 2002 It's possible that they simply don't have very much time and need something that makes websites quicker. 0 Share this post Link to post
DEMOn Posted October 28, 2002 There is a balance to be met between functionality/usefulness/compatibility and aesthetic value. with dhtml, xml, and flash, anyone can make a nice looking site. do they have compatibility? no. is it easy to incorporate a lot of content into those sites? no. (that is, without an online DB interface) Afterglow's old site was probably the best DOOM html site ever, IMO. The Compet-N probably has that title atm. but there are lots of great sites out there now. Fredrik, Karthik, Pablo, etc... just look around. besides, the cool thing about html, is that you have 1,000,000 examples at your fingertips! 0 Share this post Link to post

scorpion Posted October 30, 2002 ravage said:No such thing. ...as a dummyproof webeditor? Ok, that kind of depends on your definition of a dummy, I guess. But I hear software like dreamweaver and such are quite easy... A real dummyproof webeditor is a person who doesn't take too much shit from his customers ;-) 0 Share this post Link to post
