Lo and behold, the man's a saint (albeit one with apparently MANY old HDD backups) -- and I was able to play my old maps. How do they hold up? Alright. Some of my old mapping mistakes abound here (cramped areas, too much symmetry) but otherwise I think they're pretty good. And well-balanced, considering Heretic's inventory system.

I am thinking on releasing them, unchanged, for posterity.

It is ready only for half. A few minutes ago I finished 100% map geometry and texture import. It remains to make the gameplay, arrange enemies and add items. Working out the balance, somehow put aside.


I give myself half an hour to rest ...

this looks absolutely beautiful. I love the geometry and the atmopshere. where are those textures from?

Definitely put a sky here. Also, the space shown here, as well as the lighting is a bit bland. I would done down the sector brightness for those pillars and suspended bits and maybe add a patch of grass across the room.

@CWolf I would thicken the boards on that thing hanging above the room, it looks really flimsy. I also don't know about wood as a reflective surface, lol

That's brighter, heh. The sky calls for a lower light level like 160. I preferred the floor before too. Maybe you could have some stone beams across the ceiling too

Polished wood sounds plausible. Mirror effect makes everything look extremely smooth, but what can you do.

Just wanted to check out how dynlights work with slopes and different sector heights. Well, it's pretty satisfaying feel I have right now.

Maybe you need to put some glass. Grey stone, like, almost everywhere - it doesn't look right.

Yeah, that does look better. Also, as CWolf said, maybe some glass spots on the ceiling would be nice. Perhaps two to a rectangle, one on each side.
