AD_79 Posted January 15, 2018 Looks great, you should definitely find a new home for it (or hell, even a standalone release!). There's a lot of maps from that project that I want to see released at some point; it's kind of a shame that the project fell through. 0 Share this post Link to post
Decay Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) Somewhere out of a memory, of lighted streets on quiet nights NeonDM WIP, still looking for contributors. Forever indebted to spacedm9 for inspiration despite my crude, uncouth approach. Edited January 16, 2018 by Decay 42 Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted January 15, 2018 Looks great Decay! If only you'd have gone Boom format, then the possibilities would be limitless. Fantastic stuff, can't wait to give it a proper play in DM. 3 Share this post Link to post

Moustachio Posted January 16, 2018 @wheresthebeef That looks gorgeous! I'm not sure why, but I'm getting a strong Capcom vibe from it. What's it for? 1 Share this post Link to post

Bauul Posted January 16, 2018 @Surreily You definitely should release your map from the Plain Ol' Doom 2 project! A few people have already (me included) and the reaction has been pretty good. No point it should go to waste. 0 Share this post Link to post

Also, I'm embarrassed to admit I only just discovered that GZDoom Builder Bugfix existed yesterday... it's so much better than vanilla GZDoom Builder! How did you recolor everything? 1 Share this post Link to post
Dragonfly Posted January 16, 2018 That's probably just a pre-existing texture pack. The recolours can be done a number of ways, such as with SLADE's colour remap tool, or with any image editing software with filters, such as Photoshop. 1 Share this post Link to post
Surreily Posted January 16, 2018 Okay, I think I need to clear things up about the Doom Builder thing. The filter does not create new textures, nor does it recolor them. All it does is find textures of the desired color. The little slider on the right controls how similar the texture's color must be - I found that certain colors are more strict than others. The resource WADs I have loaded there have a bunch of blue textures and a new palette. Sorry if I got any of your hopes up - this is not anything major. It's just a little tool to help me find suitable textures for when I'm making a map that uses a single color. If you are looking to recolor your textures, @Dragonfly's post mentions everything you need to know (though it can be a right pain in the ass working with Doom's palettes). 3 Share this post Link to post

K3K Posted January 18, 2018 (edited) Some edits I made since my previous post: A bad sign of things to come.. Working on some more advanced lighting. Added an outside outside area to the starting (?) room. Sorry posting so many shots in a frequent amount of time. I get a lot of ideas and would love feedback! Anything to improve, especially from advanced mappers. Also, is it a bad thing to get inspiration from my favorite WADs? Or is that considered plagiarizing? I'm not necessarily talking about straight up ripping off map layouts, but rather architectural styles and monster placement. 14 Share this post Link to post

Yep, exactly as Gez says this would be super useful for bigger texture packs. The texture packs I'm currently building from have something 6,000 textures, so finding textures of the same color is a nightmare. It would also work brilliantly with something like Jimmy's awesome Zoontex recolor pack. 1 Share this post Link to post

If mappers didn't take inspiration from each other all the time, we would never have as good maps as we do today. 3 Share this post Link to post
