Abyssal Speedmapping Session 34 - The first person to say it gets deleted from the internet

Count me in! 

 

As someone who is notoriously slow at mapping thanks to getting overly stuck in the details, I think a speed-mapping session would do me the world of good.

Session 33 was something special, once it got going. I had a massive amount of fun getting my brain dismantled by the greatest server known to man. Keep it up, Assholes!

Im going to say it.

Walter Payton was the real GOAT.
Tom Brady is a well above average QB, more the product of a successful whole team.
But Sweetness is the best there has been yet.

30's release must include the best version of joe's map featuring that one damn midi that was included.

Oh, ASS 26 MAP01 "Beer Processing" with "At Doom's Gate" being all the same pitch? I remember that one, I was really harsh on my tongue back then.

Quick basic question: am I right in thinking the target IWAD will be Doom 2, the map format Boom, and the sourceport PRBoom+?

 

Just want to make sure I have GZDB's game profiles set up right.

Just letting you all know that this starts in (just under) 36 hours. I'll be hosting a second session with a bonus theme 12 hours afterwards, so at Feb 18th 5AM EST, in case folks who want to participate will actually be awake/available at that time.

I have couple questions as well, for clarification:

  • About the "15 minutes for music and texture selection", do we just go and grab any textures we want during those fifteen minutes, or is there texture packs or something provided to us to choose from before the session starts?
  • Oh and we can't test our maps at all until the 15 minutes after?

Heh, this is my "first time" in some ASS, and it happens to be the 34th one...

A texture resource will be provided, but this will be optional. Custom textures beyond that will be permitted, so long as you (1) include everything that you've used in one WAD, and (2) don't stuff all of cc4-tex or some similarly massive resource into your WAD without pruning all the textures you didn't use. Sifting through that bullshit is not fun. WAD management as far as I know can be done outside of the allotted speedmapping time. Just have it done as soon as you can.

 

Playtesting your map is perfectly permitted during the mapping phase, say if you want to get a multifloor lift or somesuch working, but you may simply find it more time-efficient to save that till after.
