Heretic/hexen monsters in doom

As the title says, are you allowed to use heretic/hexen monsters in a doom wad? I wanted to grab the hexen gargoyle out for one of my projects, but i wasn't sure if I was allowed

Technically it's copyright infringement of Raven Software's intellectual property if you use the sprites and/or sounds from Hexen, but no one will stop you.

I wanted to use the Afrit (the hexen gargoyle) and thats it. will Idgames reject the wad if I do?

Try recolour it with color remap in slade or photo editing program.

I think that if you use them for your own personal projects it should be just fine. Udderdude used Doom and Hexen enemies in his Hoards of Chaos project Heretic and later used enemies from Doom and Heretic for his Resurrection of Chaos for Hexen later. Plus hasn't Raven technically abandoned all their old games anyways? Can't we reuse abandoned games assets in our own games as long as it is not sold to the general public?

I've seen the Golem from Heretic in Unloved and no one seemed to complain about that, so no I don't think anyone'll stop you. Worse crimes get committed in the world every day, this certainly is not one of them.
