and this - is my weapon, she weighs 150 kilograms and fires $200 custom tuned cartidges at 10,000 rounds per minute... It costs $200,000 to fire this weapon... for 10 seconds.

1 sec of firing= 10,000 round /60= 167 rounds

200$=10,000 rounds

So,

1 round = 0.02$

167 rounds=3.34$

10 Sec of firing plus catridge plus money needed to fire this, we need:

200,000$ + (0.02$ x [167 x10])=

200,033.40$

But we doesnt use it for 10 sec.

Let say, the whole Ultimate Doom + Doom II + Plutonia + TNT chaingun usage are 5 hours

So the real money needed are:

1minute = 200,033.40$ x 6 = 1,200,200.40$

1 hour = 72,012,024$

5 hour = 72,012,024$ x 5 =

360,060,120$

So it is 360,060,120$.

Where do we get these money to shoot monsters in Doom Games?

Doom's chaingun is more like a smaller handheld minigun which fires 9mm rounds.

Objectively incorrect.

Your firearm projects 10mm UAC Auto ammunition at 525 rounds per minute. The cost-per-bullet being $0.33 per bullet, and the firearm outputting 87.5 rounds per 10 seconds, the cost for firing it for that time ends up at being $28.88.

I would recommend you invest in a pump-action shotgun instead. For far superior firepower at close quarters it runs only $2.46 for the same length of time at almost the same lethality.

Math somehow made the chaingun much worse...

Hello this is the BFG department. Would you like to demo one? The upfront cost is higher but it uses battery cells, just plug them for a while until you next need to destroy everything around you the next time. We also have plasma rifles which are much cheaper and use the same cells. Order them together and get a free backpack and 6 cell boxes. We also offer solar powered BFGs for a limited time!

I've heard that several times, but so far I haven't seen anyone mention the source of that information.

On average chaingun bullet deals 10.3 damage. It shoots 8.75 times per second, thus dealing 90.125 points of damage / second.

3600 seconds / hour * 5 hours * 90.125 damage / second =

1 622 250 points of damage in 5 hours.

The total hit points of all monsters in Doom + Doom 2 + Plutonia + TNT combined are:

1203 (zombie men) * 20 hp = 24 060 hp

2495 (shotgun guys) * 30 hp = 74 850 hp

3990 (imps) * 60 hp = 239 400 hp

1132 (demons) * 150 hp = 169 800 hp

693 (spectres) * 150 hp = 103 950 hp

264 (barons) * 1000 hp = 264 000 hp

603 (caco demons) * 400 hp = 241 200 hp

831 (lost souls) * 100 hp = 83 100 hp

14 (spider masterminds) * 3000 hp = 42 000 hp

39 (cyber demons) * 4000 hp = 156 000 hp

1578 (heavy weapon dudes) * 70 hp = 110 460 hp

336 (hell knights) * 500 hp = 168 000 hp

745 (revenants) * 300 hp = 223 500 hp

290 (mancubi) * 600 hp = 174 000 hp

215 (arachnotrons) * 500 hp = 107 500 hp

178 (pain elementals) * 400 hp = 71 200 hp

154 (arsch-viles) * 700 hp = 107 800 hp

156 (wolfenstein ss) * 50 hp = 7 800 hp

4 (commander keens) * 100 hp = 400 hp

Totaling 2 369 020 hp.

I'm afraid you won't be able to deal that much damage in 5 hours.

However, If your chaingun deals 15 damage every bullet for 5 hours non-stop (by being a bit lucky), you manage to reach 2 362 500 points of damage.

That is only 6520 damage short. 6520 damage is dealt in 49.68 seconds.

This means that you actually need 5 hours and 49.68 seconds.

I don't think the chaingun shoots  8.75 times a second. The fire rate feels a lot slower in-game. Like 2-4 shots per second or something.

Good thing is that nowadays you can spare yourself the painful effort of thinking, and actually just have a look at the wiki: https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Chaingun

Well Heavy Veaponz Gui is Russian. Russian currency value is down. $200 to them is $5 to us. Us meaning... Doomworld space base.

Huh. So it is 8.75 shots per second. Weird how it always seemed to fire much slower than... wait,

Quote

The chaingun always fires in pairs of hitscan shots, as long as the player has two bullets or more.

Does that mean it fires two shots at once like how the shotgun fires multiple pellets at once? If so then it actually fires 4.375 times per second. That would explain a lot actually.

In Doom, there are 35.714285714285714285714285714286 game tics in a second ( it's meant to be 35, but precision loss adds almost an entire additional tic per second ), meaning each tic is 0.028 seconds long. The chaingun fires a hitscan every four tics, meaning a hitscan every 0.112 seconds. Divide 1 by that 0.112 and you get a fire rate of 8.9285714285714285714285714285714 hitscans per second, or 535.71428571428571428571428571429 hitscans per minute, or 32142.857142857142857142857142857 hitscans per hour, or 771428.57142857142857142857142857 hitscans per day.

While the chaingun fires two hitscans per trigger pull, it does not do so simultaneously; rather, you simply can't fire the chaingun any number of times that isn't divisible by two, as a single trigger pull will fire once, wait four tics or 0.112 seconds, then fire twice, wait four tics of 0.112 seconds, then either go back to idle or loop back to the first shot if you're still holding down the fire button. The only exception to this is if you try firing the chaingun with only a single bullet in reserve, in which case the chaingun will visibly fire the second bullet but no hitscan is actually launched.

No, it fires two shots in a row. Like so: "pew-pew".

Huh. It's really weird how it actually fires 8 shots a second but it feels like it's firing at half that rate.

But we got plasma and bfg to deal with bigger monsters, so whats the point killing archvile, spiderdemon and Cybie using the chaingun?

Chaingun? Bah! This is a real man's weapon, magic 'n shit.

What's that? You prefer lead over magic lasers? Well give me a book and I'll show you some spiky balls of lead.

Should replace the brass knuckle.

Longer and sharper horns.
