This is a one-level DOOM 2 PWAD made by myself for the GZDoom port.

 

It's pretty short, just to give you guys a heads up.

 

I plan on adding some stuff to it soon, so stay tuned for updates.

Very short. Nothing really to it. 

 

 

I thought the barrel usage could have been better.

The start room has misaligned textures.

The brick to bigbrick transition is rather sudden.

You might think about using the "deaf"/"ambush" tag on some enemies.

There is no lighting variation.

There are only two ceiling flats the whole map, and one is used on one of (not both) the doors.

There are only two floor flats the whole map, and they are only different in color.

Nope, it's vanilla (or at least -complevel 2), just like your prime doom map. If you're trying to map in a zdoom-based format, I strongly recommend you try to break that habit now, while you still can. It will only complicate the map-making process for yourself and alienate players.

It won't be for quite a long time that you're able to make maps that utilize zdoom features well enough to actually warrant making zdoom maps in the first place, so just stick to vanilla/boom for now (if you weren't already).

 

if you don't have pr/glboom+ installed and dont want to install it (even though it takes like 30 seconds for a first-time setup, unlike zdoom ports), you can try this simple starterpack: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x3ik8431iwjazdc/prboom-plus-2.5.1.5-starterpack_v3.zip?dl=1 (just be sure to put your iwads in the folder [not the custom wads folder, obviously])

 

On to the map, there has to be a mistake. This can't possibly be the correct version, right? It has 12 monsters and seems to be a step down in many (not all) areas from your prime doom map. c'mon man :c

what's goin on with prime doom anyways

That's kind of what I was aiming for with the map - I guess I aimed too low.

 

By the way, I've managed to implement all of your suggestions to version 0.0.1.1.

Just so you know, I do intend on adding a lot more to this WAD - in fact, I've uploaded version 0.0.1.2, which replaces "the dreaded D_RUNNIN" with an 8 bit version of a much more famous song :)

Don't worry. Everyone starts somewhere, you don't need to tax yourself out in your early attempts. Keep practicing and you could achieve greater things then you could ever imagine.
