Well, regarding the porn issue there might be a sliver of truth in it.

Don't get me wrong. I still think that social marginalisation and a society that doesn't care is the main issue. (It's so much easier to kill someone if you don't feel any connection to them).


My point is that much porn is not about about sexual arousement or "horniness" but about rape! Through watching this ritual desecration of a (most of the time female) many a male person can channel his sexual (and social) frustrations into the much more consumer/product friendly wish to destroy, conquer and use up. Youths who are brought up watching such glorified rape without having anything else to relate to will risk having their sexuality (which I believe to be closely related to social instinct) totally fucked up.

Before you all start trolling me for being a prude I will like to say that I have no problems with the depiction of full nudity as well as sex scenes, even if the only serve the purpose of giving (male) persons something to wank to. What I have a problem with is the rape themes that always seem to occur in such stuff. Date rape scenarios, desecration of hardly adult women, endless streams of ugly bukkake shots. God forbid if she looks she's actually enjoying herself!!!

Sex is still taboo in our society, but violence isn't. As long as you can define the victims as not belonging to the same group as yourself. By defining the woman as a sub-human and proceeding to ritually destroy her, thinly disguising the process as "sex" we have an excellent mean to neutralise male sex-drive, by channeling it into a more "culturally acceptable" form.

That is both a misquoting and a misinterpretation, but well, I probably must learn to be more understandable.

Here is an explanation on my harsh stand against porn as opposed to violent video games:

With violent video games you know what you are dealing with. You play them for the thrill of the confrontation and the combat. Maybe to sate some ancient "hunting instinct". When you play violent computer games your mindset is usually that of a boy playing "war" with his toy soldiers or a sportsman revelling in the personal challenge. In these two spheres violent imagery is OK as long as you have the ability to judge between fantasy and reality. Still being left alone with only the computer games and no social contact can be bad, but that is more a case of child neclect than bad computer game influence.


Porn on the other hand, with it's steady creep of violent imagery, is more insidious. When watching porn you don't expect to sate your "hunting instinct" or to live out destructive "battle fantasies". You are expecting to sate your sexual desire. Human males have the 2/3 blessing 1/3 curse that they are very easily aroused by visuals and images. This would be fine if porn actually portrayed sex, but what is portrayed in most hardcore porn is not sex but rape. This can seriously mess up a young mind potentially leading him to mess up his sexual desires with the aggressive sides of his psyche.


I hope this is a better explanation of my viewpoints, and next time: beware before you simplify another's comments. You might be quoting him slightly out of context.

On the other hand my post might also be slightly out of context since it dealt with the bad effects of hardcore porn and not about gaming at all.

Little Faith, you just shut the hell up right now about porn. I don't ever want to see another word come out of your network adapter on the subject, because you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Go download some REAL porn, because all those rape fetish sites you have memberships to aren't the 'norm'. In most porn, the girl is obviously enjoying herself. And if anyone is an expert on the matter, it's me.

It's one thing for a person to complain about violent games, it's another to parade about their religion, but when you start bitching about my porn and by extension, sexual freedom, well...let's just say the bus stops here, and you are summarily booted off without recompense for your fare.
