Gonarch's Lair is not that bad either, though Gonarch's AI gets broken and acts really weird sometimes. I hope Black Mesa's re-imagining does these chapters justice and fixes all of (if not, most of) It's issues. They will, no doubt. My only worry would be the AI, particularly for Nihilanth, because let's face it, they could've done a better job with it, especially the Vorts. Remember Human Error? Now that's how they should behave, very responsive and aggressive. The HECU AI could also use some tweaks as well, but the alien AI kinda feels "lazy" in comparison. They're even adding back the parts which were cut from the original Xen. Too bad we'll never be able to compare these areas though. 2 Share this post Link to post

Memfis Posted June 24, 2018 The Ancients in Diablo 2 LOD because you can't use town portals during the fight. :( So many characters were abandoned there. 0 Share this post Link to post

Grimosaur Posted June 24, 2018 This crap. I tried playing through Ninja Gaiden about a year ago on my 3DS and got to this level and just couldn't get past. The game actually is a lot of fun up to this point, but then it just turns into cheap deaths when constantly getting knocked off the platforms by some random bird that comes and hits you in the middle of a jump. I'll beat it some day... 1 Share this post Link to post

Vermil Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) I never liked that officers in Dynasty Warriors 2 for the PS2 heal if you floor them. Good thing it wasn't present in the sequels. 0 Share this post Link to post
MTF Sergeant Posted June 26, 2018 The mission "Gravemind" from Halo 2 on Legendary. You die just 3 seconds after the start of the level, if you aren't quick enough, and even if you ARE quick enough, there's still 98% chance of you dying. 0 Share this post Link to post

I think that the Halo series' Legendary difficulty is one of the best examples of artificial difficulty you can find. As mentioned before, escort missions are the worst. I was having a blast with FreeSpace, but I eventually rage quit when I realised most of the missions consisted in "escort x and/or protect y" 3 Share this post Link to post

Back when I thought the series was good, I used to play on hard, but Halo 4 was the only one I came close to beating on Legendary. I couldn't beat the missions where you fought covenant because they suddenly got ridiculously hard while the Prometheans got hard, but stayed manageable. Never understood that. Halo 2 actually stood out in the series because of all those sniper valleys where those jackals could shoot you with perfect accuracy across the map while facing the other way. And if you died often enough, quickly enough, you'd get booted back a checkpoint, losing at least a half hour of work. 0 Share this post Link to post

Koko Ricky Posted June 26, 2018 Lemme just say that regarding the OP, the Genesis-era Sonic games are appealing from a trial-and-error perspective. The layouts are far less forgiving than Mario's, which is where the fan divide often sets in. Classic Sonic design places only partial emphasis on speed, as there are many instances of slowing one's pace to avoid obstacles. That said, there are a handful of sections that are downright unfair, mostly in Sonic 1. 1 Share this post Link to post

Uh huh, I remember doing a "Legendary All Skulls On" run of Pillar of Autumn on Halo Reach for the weekly challenge and we got stuck on two literally unkillable hunters right near the end for 2 whole hours, actual next level bullshit that was. 1 Share this post Link to post

If he is supposed to be the fastest hedgehog ever, why even bother placing death traps and cheap enemies around? It goes against the whole feeling about speed, and hurts the mascot character itself. Sega should have renamed Sonic as "The fastest yet obsessively careful hedgehog ever". 0 Share this post Link to post

They considered it, but their QA complained that the name was too long. As I understand it, the last level of Halo Reach becomes entirely luck based on Mythic, because the Mythic skull doubles the carrier's health that you have to destroy, so you might not have enough time to fire again before the air units or ground troops decide to kill you. 1 Share this post Link to post

I hated playing that one as well. GTA 3 had a few other frustrating missions as well. Another rage-inducing mission would have to be Death Row from Vice City. Not as painful and excruciating as The Driver, but still annoying by itself. You start out on the other side of the map, while you have to reach Lance before he dies. If you didn't bring a fast vehicle beforehand, expect a lot of anger. Then when it's time to escape, it's even worse. There is nothing more terrible than Lance running in front of your shots and killing himself, or the gang drivers ramming your vehicle. To top it off on the piss lemonade, you are rewarded for nothing (except for looting dead bodies), and the ass pull later when Lance betrays the player character, making this mission even more insulting. You'll be glad to have Lance dead. 0 Share this post Link to post

You either get two guards throwing grenades, or they just rape you with the AR, or both. The next room is brutal too, as the guards there can spot you as far back as the first door and they're really accurate. It's a lot easier on an emulator with mouse aiming, but doing this on the original hardware is just mean. 0 Share this post Link to post
Major Arlene Posted July 21, 2018 Literally anything in Mirror's Edge and Watch_Dogs. Mostly because i suck at platforming/parkouring and driving in video games. But I keep going because both look wonderful and the reward of completing the missions feels nice. 0 Share this post Link to post
