Here's a trick I like to use sometimes to add texture variety to buildings. I had the floor and ceiling meet 128 pixels from ground level, allowing for a completely different texture on the upper half, making it appear more dynamic and busy.

at the end of doom2 map24 the same trick was used

You could put the secret exit on E4M1, which would give the player a choice between playing either E4M9 and E4M2 before E4M3, right?
