Insomniak Posted November 18, 2002 Shows like South Park, Bevis & Butthead, aimed at people over 18, but watched by people under 14. Animated comedy shorts. Cartoons that have jokes that only older veiwers would get.(i.e. The Tick) This does NOT include Hentai of any form. Personally, I like a show up here in Canada called Kevin Spencer, about a teenage, chain smoking, alcoholic ,sociopath. I'm not sure if it's airing in in America, seeing as how most of the jokes are from a Canadian perspective. 0 Share this post Link to post
mmnpsrsoskl Posted November 18, 2002 Heh. I love South Park. Beavis and Butthead rules as well! hehehehehehe he said hentai (butthead style) 0 Share this post Link to post
TheHighestTree Posted November 18, 2002 I like those really wierd Film Board of Canada short animations. In fact, i could probably spend an entire day just staring at them... Ren and Stimpy is really funny, but just who is it aimed at? I never really got into Kevin Spencer, i thought most of the jokes were pretty cheap. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ichor Posted November 18, 2002 My favorite would be Ren and Stimpy, followed closely by The Tick. And if I remember right, wasn't The Flinstones originally intended to be an adult cartoon? It was on at prime time like the Simpsons is now, and some of the jokes seemed to be aimed more at adults back then. 0 Share this post Link to post

I have never really liked South Park all that much, although a few of them are pretty funny. Also, any show on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim segment I like (especially The Brak Show and The Oblongs). 0 Share this post Link to post

The National Film Board is master at hypnotic films... as long as scratch tracks stay at a minimum. ;P Heh.. and as far as Ren and Stimpy, I have an autographed 'x-rated' sketch from John K himself in one of my sketchbooks. ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Remilia Scarlet Posted November 18, 2002 What's wrong with hentai? Not like it's porn or anything... 8-P Hmm...adult cartoons...always liked Akira and Ghost in The Shell. As for adult humor...yeah, South Park is cool. I guess here Urasei Yatsura would be considered one at times, too. Over there, it's a kid's show, lol. Oh, I know. Amazing Nurse Nanako. I wouldn't let my kid watch that 'till their at least 18. Never seen the upper chest parts of women move more than they did in the original Dead or Alive 'till I seen this show. 0 Share this post Link to post

Ostensibly aimed at kids, but the characters had names that referred to masturbation and related acts (Master Bates, Seaman Staines, etc.). I believe the Ozzies sold it as a joke to the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), who were too straight-laced to notice for several years. 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted November 18, 2002 Adult cartoons Grossly under-utilized medium, IMHO. I loved The Critic when it was on, on top of The Tick, South park, and stuff. Stuff that's simply gross-out toons or the like doesn't appeal to me. I think there's a real market for "serious" adult animation out there. All the kids who grew up watching after-school cartoons in the 70s and 80s are all grown up now. Huge market, totally untapped, at least here in the States. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted November 18, 2002 southpark is good, i never liked bevis and butthead cause they had the music videos. (but when it is just bevis and butthead it is good) red & stimpy kicks ass, there is a new show he makes called the ripping friends, late sunday nights on cartoon network. there are also several others he has done. he also has one called weekend pussy hunt that is totaly fucked up ren & stimpy. includes sex, cats smokeing out of ass holes and yelling "fuck you" at dogs humping legs. I have not seen it on tv and it was avialible as an online cartoon, however the site is down. it was at realcartoons.com if anyone knows or has these i would like to know 0 Share this post Link to post
Fletcher` Posted November 18, 2002 South Park, Ren & Stimpy, and Home Movies (sad how it's almost the same style as Dr. Katz) 0 Share this post Link to post
VileSlay Posted November 18, 2002 I do believe that the looney tunes were originally meant for adults. look at all the drinking, crossdressing, veiled homosexuallity, and, lets not forget, the violence and racism. south park, beavis & butthead, family guy, and the simpsons were some of my favorite not quite for kiddies cartoons. futurama is pretty good to. 0 Share this post Link to post
Scientist Posted November 18, 2002 1. Anyone heard of Stressed Eric? That show is great. Although I don't think they run it anymore. 2. Anyone heard of Bob the angry flower? It's not a tv-show but I think he fits in this thread. 0 Share this post Link to post
Captain Red Posted November 19, 2002 The Simpsons was originally an adult cartoon (or at least the older ones were), but children watch it anyway, even if %95 of the jokes go over there heads. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted November 19, 2002 henti, i dont know why anyone would watch that. either watch a real porn or no porn at all. anyone who gets off to henti needs their head cleaned out with and icecream scoop. no, i dont mean anime or anime with nudity, i am refering to stright animated porn. normal porn, ok animated porn...no anyway i would agree that alot of older cartoons, ie looney toons, had stuff aimed at adults. really the creators made it apeal to many ages. some jokes for younger viewers but a shit load for the older ones. honestly i still watch cartoons and why not. some of the jokes are timed, meaning today we would not get them at all. like the old fairy tales, cartoons offten have a dark meaning. many hide ideals, like comunisim, anit-comunisim, nazism and racist views. Disney is know for this. many disney movies, cartoons, and movies have alot of easter eggs to find. one reason was the original walt disney was a nazi supporting crack pot. many early cartoons and short films show this. however good luck finding them today, many have been chopped and edited. the only one i remeber was snow white, but i know i have seen a good deal of the unedited movies. 0 Share this post Link to post
DOOM Anomaly Posted November 19, 2002 DOOM Anomaly loves South Park. DOOM Anomaly did like Bevis and Butt-Head but it got pretty boring with all the music videos, and never getting to watch the show. DOOM Anomaly did like The Critic when it was on, but it has been years since DOOM Anomaly has seen it. DOOM Anomaly also likes Ren & Stimpy. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fletcher` Posted November 19, 2002 DOOM Anomaly also likes the Flintstones; he can relate to them so well... :P Edit: Nothing beats Looney Toons. No doubt about it. You can't beat the classics. 0 Share this post Link to post
Y2theJ Posted November 19, 2002 I also like cartoons. As long as people don't try and turn them into TC's for Doom. 0 Share this post Link to post
Insomniak Posted November 20, 2002 I thought you left, Dan. Anyways, CFB short cartoons are excelent. A couple of others I watch because they're on: Quads Mission Hill South Park Kevin Spencer Bitchy Bits Heavy Metal (occasionally on Space Channel) 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted November 20, 2002 There's a late night political satire cartoon here in the UK. I forget what it's called, but it's damn funny. The makers especially like to make fun of George W Bush, and one episode had him declaring "war on tourism" ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
TheHighestTree Posted November 20, 2002 Mission Hill...i watch that sometimes. It's pretty funny, but they only seem to air a few episodes here. Akira is cool too...really long though. The film board of Canada still own all of you! 0 Share this post Link to post

Jello Posted November 21, 2002 Man I miss the tick, that was such a great show. I didn't like the live action one, but the cartoon was just genius. Duckman was great too. Ren and stimpy was awesome, south park is pretty funny. 0 Share this post Link to post

Sephiroth Posted November 21, 2002 south park was fairly fucked up last night. the gerbil king made me laught my ass off. "i had a dream you were a real dick. What? i dont want to be an asshole. no, I was the asshole." and "what do you think will happen when we put Mr. Lemmiwinks(class gerbil) up Mr. slave's tight ass?" "you are too old for Mr hat, so meet Mr. slave. or as i call him teacher's ass" 0 Share this post Link to post
