I was doing youtube for 3 months. I did an avatar for it. I stopped doing youtube. I still use the avatar everywhere.

It's the only one I've used that anyone seems to like, so it is back.

I have avatars disabled and adblocked (it's the only way to be sure), so it doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me.

Why though?

They serve little purpose and many of them are annoying.

The only avatars I block are the ones including cartoon ponies and obnoxiously designed anime characters.

Yeah, but I found I was constantly blocking the latest annoying ones. Easier just to nuke the lot.

I've never considered blocking avatars in general. If it's something nice then I want to very much see it, same for something ugly as shit or terrible.

Besides, they can also say something about the person, provided that they put some thought into the process of selection and not just pick them because "they like X, Y, Z". Virtually all avatars I choose say something about me, to varying levels.

I was rather fond of the arch-vile one, but that's personal preference, and it's your avatar, so obviously your choice.

Though I might "borrow" the vile one here eventually, with how cool it was.
