onetruepurple Posted December 10, 2018 I don't expect this to get all that popular, considering the other Quake release from a couple hours ago... But! The Quake mapping community at func_msgboard occassionally organises themed speedmapping sessions. This time, to celebrate Doom's 25th birthday, the theme was to use Doom textures (with an optional "satanic mechanism" subtheme). Several days of hasty brush pushing later, and the result is 9 brand new Quake maps! These maps will require a modern source port. I recommend QuakeSpasm, Mark V should also work, Darkplaces is fucking terrible and should be uninstalled immediately. I agree that the screenshots on the page i linked aren't good. HD textures and rt lights are optional in AfterQuake, you can download them on the menu if you want, as well as other goodies. What is good in AfterQuake is that it uses FTE, the most advanced client. in the end of the day, looks are a matter of preference. I've killed enforcers and dogs with axe and, well, enforcers. After teleporting to the other side I've grabbed quad and killed everything on the bridge with shotgun.
