I'd like to see some wads that turn Doom into an arena shooter.

Basically like the title, since I'm also like Serious Sam.

I'd suggest Supreme Invasion with any death match maps.

Skulltag content has some nice Arena style invasion levels, only works on Zandronum IIRC though.

Have you tried Stronghold: On the Edge of Chaos? https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/strhedge 

Its really fun and can get quite challenging trying to keep them from getting inside the base. This is slightly different gameplay than what you were referring to but I'd still highly recommend this. Also CDI, Complex Doom Invasion, if your looking for a great multiplayer experience.

Stronghold just doesn't fit me, I think it's a bit odd. 
Also a note: I'm primarily looking for singleplayer mods.
