Any intense/atmospheric wads?

I think there's a Doom 3 in Doom wad. Not sure? Anyone have any suggestions?

You can make any level that way with some mods. DarkDoomZ to make the level dark and some creepy ambient music to set the mood. Reshade can darken up any OpenGL game if you don't want to use gzdoom. If you want intense you can add something like Hideous Destructor.

I can strongly recommend Shadows Of The Nightmare Realm, definitely one of the most intense and atmospheric wads in a while

What's that Wad that pushes the Doom engine to its limits? It has subpar gameplay but is a very impressive wad with dark atmosphere? Got a inventory system too.

These were the first ones off the top of my head although I'm def missing some.

If Doom 3 styled is what you're looking for, Legacy of Suffering might be right up your alley.

Hell Ground comes to mind. Eternal did other wads that might qualify but this is the one I remember the most, along with the one that starts in a train and you then walk through a ghost city.

I guess I'm slightly out of scope though, so see that as branching out from straight up dark ambient mood perhaps (for most of Hell Ground at least, the late parts are very Doom 3 if I remember correctly).

Enjay's Waterlab GZD was very atmospheric and creepy. As is Putrefier, Winter's Fury.

Resurrected Nightmare is pretty good. Looks like a WIP but still good.

if you use the psx music wad or similar ambient music  , almost every wad become atmospheric .

however I suggest you the "dimension of the boomed" mod it is really good!

don't forget also to try the back to saturn x episodes...

Happy Time Circus 1 and 2, which may or may not be "the clown one."

yup those are the clown ones

Then how about Phocas Island 2? That was pretty well-received back in the day.

Not scary, but highly atmospheric.
