WADs with great music

Recommended Posts

Look on idgames. You will find wads which maybe have great music.

What is great music for you?

- Memento Mori 1 and 2 (or anything with Mark Klems MIDI's for that matter)

- Anything by Jimmy (Jenesis & BTSX come to mind)

- I've heard the music in Valiant is pretty good but i've never played it myself

- Plutonia MIDI Pack for Final Doom's The Plutonia Experiment (technically not a PWAD though)

Back to Saturn X (both episodes) will forever be one of my alltime favourites of incredibly moody, catchy and overall just amazing sounding tracks.

When I saw a first introduction to Exomoon on YouTube I thought the YouTube had some custom music overlayed to this WAD. It was just so different, so funky, so relaxing, it's just a great soundtrack. Highly recommended. Buy the OST here: https://deadwing1.bandcamp.com/album/exomoon-soundtrack

Ashes 2063 is a great Total Conversion for Doom, with an awesome synth soundtrack. Buy the OST here: https://johnsweekley.bandcamp.com/album/ashes-2063-episode-1

And no, I am not affiliated with Bandcamp. xD

Icarus had a pretty neat soundtrack. Varied in styles, too.

Also anything that has Jimmy, Stewboy or Esselfortium midis get my vote.

I would say "The adventures of square" has one of the most complex, rich, diverse, engaging and unique sounding music out there, masterfully crafted by titans of midi composing, such as Jimmy, Alfonzo and Xaser.

Here are some samples of what your ears might get pleasantly assaulted by, while playing this TC:

I definitely would recommend to at least give it a try, it might look innocent on surface and not "doomish", but once you dive into this wad, you will find out that it's fast paced, challenging and quite brutal (in the best ways possible)
