Heya all! So I've loved Doom since I was a kid, and have played most of the games. Nothing beats the classics though, and since I have a love of making levels for different games, I figured I'd like to dip my feet into Doom Wads too. I just downloaded GZDoom, but now my question is.. where do I go from here?

Yes, check out the Cacowards and play like crazy. After that, download GzDoom Builder Bugfix or Doom Builder X and start making your own maps!

You can also play them using RMB -> "Open with..." and selecting your GZDoom.exe as the application of choice, though ZDL (or some other launcher) is great to use.

That actually worked, thanks a bunch!

Getting ZDL should be your next step. 100% must-have, and it'll save you a lot of headaches. After that, check out the community mainstay wads and maybe some TC's or gameplay mods, if that's your fancy. Then the rest is up to you! I totally recommend grabbing Heretic, Hexen, and Strife if you haven't already, since those are compatible with GZDoom as well

The largest sources of doom WADs: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/

and https://www.wad-archive.com/

Feeling bored? There's hours of fun to be had just looking through random WADs - the good, the bad and the ugly! Of course, you can sort by rating so you don't get anything awful if you prefer that.

Don't forget to check out Doom multiplayer either! It's shockingly robust for such an ancient game. https://doomshack.org/doomonline.html
