Pistol changed in update?

The other day I downloaded for the second time the Doom 2016 demo (I don't own the game and I had downloaded the demo before long ago) and I noticed the pistol was different.

The secondary fire no longer charged for a bigger shot, but it kinda opened some flaps on the side of the pistol. Also, I noticed the DG no longer looks at the pistol from the side when he picks it up from the floor. Was this some update for some reason? I'm thinking maybe like when they changed the ending of Portal to tie in with Portal 2.

Sorry if this is the stupidest question but I couldn't find anything in the Steam forums or here. Let me know and I'll delete it in no time :)

When Portal 2 was kinda ready to launch, they released an update for Portal 1 where they slightly changed the ending:

After Chell lands on the floor outside of Aperture after blowing up the place, a robotic voice is heard saying "thanks for assuming the party escort submission position" (or something like that), and she starts getting dragged backwards before the screen fades to black.
