rampancy Posted August 14, 2019 i just got a new ssd, was thinking about dual booting win xp on the old one. most the problems people mention seem easy to overcome with one exception. my video card does not have xp drivers. i would have to install a second one that does, like a 750 ti. so my question is, if i install a second card, would it keep my current one from operating in pci express x16 mode? the machine im working with is a 4th gen i7 on z97 platform. if so what are the work arounds? thanks. 0 Share this post Link to post
Murdoch Posted August 14, 2019 Honestly, you would be better off hunting down an old XP machine somewhere. They are out there. I have three of them here at my shop and there are likely many cluttering the shelves of op shops the world over. If you get one that's new enough to have a SATA interface rather than IDE you would be pretty set. 0 Share this post Link to post

Is there any practical reason you need XP? 3 hours ago, rampancy said: if i install a second card, would it keep my current one from operating in pci express x16 mode? Might be; depends on the chipset and motherboard. Information should be available in the motherboard manual, so do some reading. 0 Share this post Link to post
