Playtester for Doom Eternal leaks

Recommended Posts

I only skimmed over bits and pieces of the leak, but I did notice some red flags in his posts (such as the fact that he mentioned that he was working as an intern, which is usually information you do not want to reveal when you're leaking a game.) These leaks could still be true, just take them with a grain of salt.

These "leaks" are fake. The guy is trolling hard. in his second part of the leak he posted a picture of doomslayers helmet in z brush but someone already pointed out that the helmet was from 2016 and not the new eternal helmet. all of the other pictures are blurry like the "chaingunners" because the the guy literally just grabbed some models from quake champions and messed around with it in zbrush and blurred it to cover the flaws. These leaks are bust and im glad cause the fake plot he made up sounds soo cringy and lame.

The helmet one definitely, you can also tell by the nose.  Though how do you explain the perk coins later in the thread?  They seem very close to the ones in game.

Those "leaks" are almost entirely known content in terms of characters and location and have very little that is entirely novel besides some interesting speculation / extrapolation. The "synthetic demon" thing for instance is a nice idea since the new Cyberdemon variety has more of a human-skin look, and tying together the several new and redesigned enemies with a similar look would make sense. But

Quote

Infuriating, the Marauder starts to grunt, but a mysterious voice tells him that he needs to be calm, because now “It is their time to give penance”.

This kind of gives the game away because this suggests there is a cutscene where a mysterious entity talks to a demon, without Doomguy even present, where the entity says one of the handful of known lines from a trailer. No way.

I do not believe him, because he did not say about the Archangels and the Crucible. But Crucible, according to the prophecy, is very dangerous, and it's silly to remove it from the plot. He did not talk about the maykrs and their hierarchy

That was a good one!!  I hate to admit but I love all the fake leaks and nonsense that people post.

With that said I still hope we see the Chaingunner.  The pics where taken down at the request of Zenimax apparently but I can't confirm that.

I'd also like to make note that they wouldn't give a play tester access to all of this information.

I've been let to believe that play testers are given limited time to test certain sections of the game and not usually the game as a whole nor would have access to a lot of the details/images/story that this "tester" proclaims in great length.

Not to mention NDA's, restricted/secured media (no phones, cameras, USB sticks, etc), and all sorts of on site monitoring and escorting... They certainly wouldn't be giving a short-term contractor/temp access to anything more than what's needed to get some reasonable feedback on look&feel and opinion of the game. And they usually choose people who aren't associated with the communities and are not mega fans of the games they're testing (since they trying to appeal to every gamer and not just fans of DOOM).

They take security and information protection very seriously there. I've been there, I know how strict they are on this stuff. Even areas that they wanted to show me they couldn't due to security.

It's been officially debunked as bogus and fake by Hugo Martin.

But it was absolutely humorous watching all these 4chan pleebs try to demystify and decrypt years of DOOM and id lore after being led on by some troll bullshitter. That was my entertainment for the week.

That's good to see...The "story" of the intro from the leak was a bit too cheesy and I'm glad they're not going with that.  Still hope we get somewhere close to 18 levels though.

I just remembered two funny details about the "leak":

* He mentioned demons wearing suits, which sounds like a parody someone would make and a political cartoon comic on a news paper.

* The game keeps the super detailed art style from 2016 and id brought up how much detail it'll have, yet somehow someone didn't bother to model Doomguy's hair.

I still find the "most demons are UAC creations" part kind of weak.

Kind of reminds me of how in the MCU, Spiderman is too tied to Tony Stark, even if this comparison doesn't really make sense.

I think Hell works better as their own faction, that just looks and acts purely evil because they're Hell and every other faction cannot truly beat it except Doomguy.

I feel like the lore was intended to make Doom's universe more interesting but instead i get the opposite sometimes.

Almost kind of affects the basic appeal of "Doomguy fighting demons from Hell".

I wouldn't even mind something crazy and lore contradicting on the level of "Every Doomguy ever is the same, even the RoE one" and more different art direction designs, while it's a series like Fallout where the world building and story should actually matter, but eh... Bethesda.

I just hope that the UAC does not end up being the sole source of cybernetics for Hell. Something I always loved about Doom's Hell was that they were not stuck in the ancient times; they had the kind of weapons that would make humans quake in fear. I liked that demons were armed with the most nightmarish technology that people would take seriously.

The Revenant Program I can dig. The UAC would absolutely be experimenting with demon-tech or cyborg undead. I just want Hell to not end up relying on them, rather than the other way around.

Speaking of Marvel, i just heard that someone decided the Venom Symbiotes came from some god's sword who fought Thor or whatever that is. (someone correct me on that one even if it's off topic here)

Sometimes, certain things in fiction are either already explained or don't need explanations or at least could use more fitting ones.

Also, even if this Hell doesn't look that Hellish, they did add a religious cult aspect to the UAC and added priests from Hell. (wonder if there's any Heaven priests)

I can see myself probably being a bit nitpicky with this and this is someone's vision, even if based on an existing series.

I wonder if Doom will get different designs again without story justifying it or lore continuity, because the series already went to different iterations like some comic franchises and a series like Twisted Metal, sort of.

A dumb idea for a new story would be if Doomguy became a CEO of a demon killing focused corporation that would rise with the fall of the UAC called Doom Inc. and i realized that would almost be similar to Devil May Cry's story.

I'm currently reading through the series in question, although I don't remember the exact details of the origin of the symbiotes. But yes, in essence, the ongoing 2018 series presents the symbiotes as originating from a dark god. Unsurprising radical change considering the previous run was just as different in its approach to the topic.

Bishop from Cameron's Aliens Movie is not the Voice Actor who says "Why are You here?" in the trailer- so that should be a BIG clue.  Also:

I knew that NuDoom had some Marathon Influences but sheesh!  Void-eaters and not Star-eaters though guys.

The amount of stages sounds right for 18 hours of gameplay, but none of the dialogue or places or factoids were anything we have not already been told before.  "The Crucible Sword is kinda like the Chainsaw" Oh thank god because I was starting to think it was going to be more like a Chaingun ;)

edit: you are suposed to meet god or something someway as well, and that does not seem to be a part of this leak.  weird.

The original idea was that hell merged with our tech, just like they started transforming earth during Doom 2.

Anyway, I remember when Doom '16 rumors were full force.  We heard everything from the episode structure being back to the cyberdemon being a regular enemy, etc.

Looking back at this thread after so long, I sorely wish the actual game was anything like the leaks mentioned here. Everyone expected the game to be a lot more story-driven based on the trailers, but the plot we actually got was no more "background" than 2016's.
