Botmatches

Dunno if this has been discussed before or not, but was id planning to release a botmatch part of the game when the game is released, or when the multiplayer part is released, or not at all?

I doubt it. And I hope not. It'd detract attention from the single player aspect. Besides, if you want a botmatch, play Quake 3...

I'm pretty sure there's a quote somewhere saying Doom 3 will have basic Detahmatch - 4 players. And then a later quote saying that they'll release a 'multiplayer patch' type thing after the game ships. Haven't heard anything of bots tho.

id has plans on releasing a multiplayer addon.

Quite likely as many multiplayer only games has bots and a multiplayer add-on is like a multiplayer only game.

I just wasn't sure because id had stated before they weren't really focusing on revolutionary ai. This might mean they will use ai code from Quake 3 maybe for bot matches or they won't do botmatches at all.
