[zdoom 2.8.1] changing splashfactor

Question

Is it possible to change the splashfactor CVAR value through mapinfo or a script instead of having to use the console? I'm making a map that's designed for a custom splashfactor value.

I couldn't get that to work. The wiki says "Only mod-created console variables defined through CVARINFO can be changed with this function, any built-in engine CVars cannot be", and I tried making a CVARINFO with splashfactor but it crashed saying "splashfactor already exists".
