How to make skybox change?

I am a user of Zandronum for my doom port and I use slade 3 map editor. Also please don't redirect me to another thread, I tried the map info method, the scripting method, and so on and so forth, so about all conventional methods, please help me. Im trying to change it to RSKY3

Your post is very light on details.

 

Is it just one map in the map01 slot that you want to use RSKY3?

 

Can you post examples of your MAPINFO, scripts etc?

@xvertigox My slot is map01, and my script was like

  • map MAP01 "The First Circle"
  • {
  • sky = "RSKY3"
  • music = "D_RUNNIN
  • }

I also have had problems getting my mp3 files to play as music in slade 3

@xvertigox my map slot is e1m1 I just want to use it for my first map although it would be great though if you could also show me how to make each level's skybox a different one, I only have one map so far.

People here have a life outside Doomworld, don't tag them repeatedly, it's not like the end of the world if your map ended up unfinished.

 

If you are simply trying to make your map using R_SKY3 sky texture, just map on a different slot (apparently you are using Doom 1, so go with E3M1)

 

Also, you don't need to use scripts to make skies change between maps.

You need to decide which game you want to map for.

 

If it is DOOM2 then the easiest way to use RSKY3 for MAP01 is to copy RSKY3 into your map and rename it to RSKY1 using Slade3. This method works with any port.

You need to set up Slade3 to use Fluidsynth and a soundfont

Doesn't it also involve using the PNAMES and TEXTUREX lumps? I thought it would be slightly complicated for a beginner.

Yes it does, but ...

since TEXTURE1 and PNAMES already define the entry RSKY1, it is the new image named RSKY1 which is rendered.

Remember, it is always the last entry which overrides a previous one.

It is as simple as that. :)

 

 

Of course, if the map is for GZDoom then the MAPINFO method can be used instead.
