I've added release years to the table and compiled a graph. The data may be a bit skewed in favor of more recent years, because I may have taken the last update date instead of the initial release date. It would be great if someone knowledgeable took a quick look at the data.

Results are interesting:
1. Three distinct periods of WAD popularity are visible: 1995-1997, 2002-2005, and 2008-2018.

2. Year 2004 is an outlier. Odd.

3. (Personal) For some WADs: "- That's a very recent WAD, feels like from yesterday. What's the release date? - Three years ago."

2016 beat 2015? I mean, I'm an Ancient Aliens fanboy too, but I'm still surprised. If there's one year I think of when talking PWADs and custom Doom content in general, it's 2015. Just look at it:

I fixed some wrong dates (mostly, update dates were taken instead of original release dates). I used Doom Wiki as the source, but it covers not all of the listed WADs. So there still can be some errors. If you spot one, please let me know!

The wild roller coaster from 2000 to 2006 can be explained by Alien Vendetta (2001), Scythe (2003), and Scythe 2 (2005), and the absence of other impactful releases at this period.

2015 is now much closer to 2016.

The changes are:

Some notes:

Eden: there are two WADs called Eden: 1994 by Mal Blackwell and 2016 by rd. Points are counted for 2016. If you voted for the first Eden, please let me know.

Tangerine Nightmare: the RC was launched in 2017, but textfile says 2018 as release date, so I left it as 2018.

And a question: does anybody know the release date of SSL2.WAD?
