good weapon wads

can you doomers reccomend me any good weapon packs but not over the top like Russian overkill, something you dont see every day

These all have a very minimalist feel compared to newer weapon mods, which might mean they qualify as not being too over-the-top.

after several years using various weapons mods in [gzdoom], i can personally vouch for the [default doom2 weapons] but using the cheat [sv_fastweapons 2]. the cheat gives "new meaning" to the weapons, literally. or, you can use weapons mods but using cheat [sv_fastweapons 3]. by default, the setting [sv_fastweapons] could only take values 0, 1 and 2, but somehow value 3 works for [brutal doom] and [russian overkill] in [gzdoom 4.5.0].

if you still insist using a weapons mod, you could try [brutal doom - derp edition] here [http://www.mediafire.com/file/71f89e7hce8tnbg/BDv19_Derp_Edition_v3.7.pk3/file]. imo, it has a nice range of weapons.

i remember immoral conduct but the SE version doesnt work with gzdoom 4.5.0 idk what version would be suited for it either

If you want "something you don't see every day", there's this one little gem called Lithium. The things I've seen this mod do... it seriously could grow to become a full-on total conversion someday. It does have the potential for that, with its story (wow, story on a gameplay mod? who cares about that, right?)

And hey, if others can self-promote, then why the hell not: give SWWM GZ a try too if you like. It borders on "over the top" but barely even comes close to the likes of Pillowblaster's mods since I care a lot about balance (at least to a certain degree). Sure, it'll make the base game fairly easy, but it'll still give you a challenge with harder mapsets without straight-up trivializing everything (I built this thing as an "anti-frustration" counter for slaughtermaps, after all). There's still some small finishing touches left, but it's a fully playable mod nevertheless.

XWeapon is a favorite of mine. Very polished mod.

REBUVRO- This is a reanimation of weapons and monsters that maintains the vanilla timing. Very tiny mod weighing in at 2.65KB. Its meant to be an alternative to Smoothdoom. This is my preferred mod for playing anything with vanilla monsters and weapons.
