Female Slayer

I'm still puzzled why they couldn't just make it a protective cup.

it actually started as a fashion thing, and it eventually started popping up on armor cuz they wanted high-ranking people to look cool n stuff

I know how unpopular this will be, but the Doomslayer is a male specific character. It's not the end of the world, but this whole thing is just weird.

Where's male Samus?

Elvin Ripley?

Will the new Black Panther be white?

There's also the legendary warriors who cut off their right breast (mega ouch) in order to prevent it getting in the way of archery... the amazons! Which, I just learned, means "without breast!" Intriguing...

That legend is complete bullshit, by the way. The Amazons did not cut their breasts, well-endowed women who practice archery are not particularly hindered, and that etymology is completely bunk too. A much more believable etymology is hamazan, old Persian for "warrior".

I dunno, the Pauli exclusion principle doesn't tend to be respected a lot around here. Have you seen how easily 3D models can "clip" into each other even in games of this day and age?

On the other hand, that would have a different outcome. I don't want to know how breasts clipping out of flat chestplates look like.

PP size

1% [=#                  .                          ] 200%

(yep, that notch is meant to represent 100%)

Just look around Skyrim and its Mods on Nexus for Breast Physic and Armor for it.

It works fine.

For Man there is not as much physics, you have to choose between standing and not standing.

A standing one is really hilarious... You kill and loot and the Dead lie around with their best part beeing raised to the Sky.

It doesn't matter to me if a character is a female as long as it makes sense. 9/10 DOOMGUY/ DOOMSLAYER would've been male, and I think the series is to far gone to now change such an iconic character's gender. But it wouldn't have mattered if he was a female WHEN he was finalized.

Why not play as a non-binary sassy robot with a curvy ass?

Just sayin' ;)

Honestly, that sorta thing doesn't matter. A good character can be any gender. You're not automatically the most badass because you're a MANLY MAN MAN or anything, and girls aren't icky nor give cooties. We're all way past that phase, aren't we?

I feel like this video needs be shared just to debunk the myth that boob armor is objectively ineffective.

I never said that boob armor is totally ineffective. Newtonian physics tells us that the structure is weaker. He acknowledged that in the video, and he himself said that this design might have been used despite being slightly less effective just to emphasize the female form. He also used a few what-about-isms that are interesting points but don't "dispel the myth." Such as claiming that armor could never give the wearer 100% protection, that there's often a valley between the torso and pelvis, and that a direct blow to the middle of a single-dome breastplate would not be deflected. So what? His main point is that if more women fought in wars throughout history, they probably would have developed more double-breasted armor for the looks. He claims that it's only slightly less effective, but without any physical tests, his conjecture is as good as mine.

I don't want to get too far off with this - please recall that I also said I don't mind unrealistic female armor, as long I have a similar choice in the male camp. But we're talking about Doomgirl. She's not riding into battle with anyone she feels like impressing. If her breastplate has a slight curve to it, fine. But if it gets too out of hand, we all know who is being served - male sexual interests.

In general: whatever. If they can make her fit nicely within game, then sure, go ahead at full speed. If the final result will be horrible, then, well...

About armor - here's an idea: make amount of armor on a suit inversely scale with difficulty. Doomgal's outfit going from full Praetorian suit on ITYTD to Praetorian™ Armor Bonus Bikini® on NM totally would logically fit with enemy damage rising the higher the difficulty was in Doom 2016 & Eternal. Of course, that should be mirrored for male slayer with his NM outfit consisting of, e.g. Praetorian briefs and socks.

Does it matter what the slayer's gender is? Doubt any human on earth can rip and tear a Baron, even with hundreds of years of training. Regardless of background or genes. He is no different from an anime girl with a 5 meter long broadsword that slashes buildings down in one swing.

By no means am I saying it should be sexualised, but it’s simply a matter of physics that double D breasts aren’t going to fit into armor designed for a male chest, isn’t it?

Why wouldn't they fit? Pause ogling the big booba on the sorceress/priestess and check out the chest size of the group's stereotypical warrior/paladin. It usually looks like B-cups slapped onto a barrel.

Also the anime chick in boob-supporting armor is getting captured and defiled by 420 pig orcs in the next 6.9 seconds, I assume in battle one might make like in sports or space and tape them down instead.

It could be dangerous, if it smacked someone in the head. Because of the metal-plating, of course. "This is a battle, you fool!"

I mean, that could be done, if it was necessary to double the accentuation in the difficulty curve. You could adjust damage back a little tad, or maybe have it be a separate kind of setting, like a sort of "Custom Difficulty" menu where you can adjust sliders like damage, instrinsic armor, Monster Speed, etc.

There will always be OAG /v/ types mad at this but if anyone only supports this because of the former, that feels like fake interest/passion.

Like, if your only reason to like something is to "own the chuds/cucks/outgroup etc" you might not actually like the thing at all.

It's culture wars shit and i feel like even corporations/grifters know this, so they may want to take advantage if they see a group that easy to exploit.

With that in mind, there ends up being more honesty on dudes who just want to see an helmet wearing muscular amazon for porn.

I also can't imagine id even thinking of putting a sexualized character in the first place, whether it's because it's out of place or because of controversy, specially for a western AAA studio.

Maybe the closest is in a Doom gacha mobile "game".

But what would Crash's relationship be with Doomguy, anyway?

It's the same joke that gets trotted out almost every time whenever the diversity of characters comes up.

I wish my thirty plus strength rpg characters had at least some muscles, especially since I don't play elves.

At least we got Dragon's Dogma. Halfling sized muscle women ftw!

Rage came in like 2011 so it was somewhat a different time, kinda.

Didn't 2 also turned one if the first female characters you meet in 1 into an old fat lady?

But at least Doom won't reach that Agony territory.

But i also thought that one cut Doom 64 enemy (the HG Giger pipe humanoid lady) was kind of neat looking.

Meanwhile, Wolfenstein tends to have more shocking material, specially in 2, but that series has a different approach.

I've only just found this thread/debate, but for what it's worth I've played as a "Templar Gal" in Hell-Forged and had no problem whatsoever with the sense of playing as a female Slayer.  Playing as a female character might not work so well in a Duke Nukem game, but in a Doom game, I don't really see a problem.

Didn't that sort of happen like twice. At least. What else is a Bombshell game?

It would all depend on how it is handled. As an alternative skin, it would be a case of "eh sure whatever". Harmless if a bit meaningless, certainly no more so than any of the other skins they have released. Replacing the existing Slayer as a character, hell no. Doom is, first and foremost, his story. No one should replace him, be they man, woman, cyber enhanced rabbit, or other. But a new female character you can play as with different abilities and a compelling reason to be there at all, absolutely. Her powers and moves could rely more on speed and agility than brute strength.

I have said this before on this forum, I think there is potential for a some Half-life style parallel story telling here. A different angle on the invasion from a different perspective. It would be a chance to experiment with the gameplay formula a bit. You could have a kick-ass female cop or soldier who is still an extremely capable and intelligent fighter but obviously lacks the power enhancements of the Slayer. It could make for a more say survival horror take on the material where you have to protect civilians and maybe even your own family in the middle of all this madness.

So yes, all for a female character to play. Strong females are awesome. But any such addition has to make narrative sense. Otherwise it just comes off as pandering, and that is insulting to everyone regardless of your gender.

I personally have no problem with fantasy armor being totally outrageous, stylized, sexy, and impractical. It's a video game, who cares? My problem is that 99% of the time, male characters can be any size and shape with varying armor styles, while female characters are shoehorned into a very specific and obvious stereotype: Slender, big tits and ass, metal underwear. I think the Doom universe is a very appropriate place to go against that grain.

Oh that is too funny. I am imagining a knight waltzing up to a duel dressed in that. Other guy will be completely distracted. "Why did you lose the duel?" "Uhhh... welll..."
