I'm not sure if which was worse 3DO or 32x.  Close call

3DO by far. 32X was rushed and had to have cuts due to cart size limitations, but FM farts aside, it played pretty well, looked pretty good, and didn't seem terribly lacking.

Basically if Carmack had more than six weeks to port the damn thing, it probably could've been a hell of a better port. But even as-is, I'll take that over the 3DO's abysmal rendering performance any day.

A cut-down but playable version of a game is far better than a less-cut but just unplayable one.

A big update to the archive, many more magazines and press articles: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/z151ztcuzrawaq7/AAAtbtujiavO2cWdcUgyYDaya?dl=0

It now includes updates on Doom Absolution found by @Quasar and @Revenant100 in this topic: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/123789/

The oldest article now dates back to December of 1994! Which means at the time of the of the release of Doom 2, Williams and Nintendo were already thinking of making what would be "Doom 64" with id. A repeated theme that I still notice is the reviewers in mid 1997 often rated Doom 64 pretty high in the 80's and 90's. Then by 1998 readers, websites, and smaller magazine reviews would be much more harsh on Doom 64.

Bonus: I often found "Absolution" misspelled with "Abolition" too...

This is a trend I've noticed in many game magazines with "Doom-Clones/Corridor Shooters" during this time period. Some reviewers were receptive and positive about them, while others were more neutral or negative and eager to move on to the next big thing (i.e. Quake, Turok, Goldeneye). Nothing better sums this up than the review section of EGM from December 1996, which includes reviews of Powerslave on Sega Saturn, Final Doom on PSX, and Disruptor on PSX, which all showcase the divide that existed with "Doom-Clones" during this time period.

With help from Orbweaver Studios (devs of Cthon), the Authorized Guide to Doom 64 by Brady Games has been added to the archive! Some interesting notes...

The "unmaker" is referred to as the "laser weapon." This was covered on another Doomworld post, but press from that era does not call the weapon as the "unmaker", rather there is always some usage of "laser."

The guide was made on "I Own Doom" difficulty as opposed to the harder "Watch Me Die." Back then analog stick controllers were pretty new and there were no standards set in terms of playing FPS games with them. So it's expected a reasonable human would not attempt the hardest difficulty in 1997. But as covered in the last Doom Master Wadazine, button layouts for Doom 64 got pretty optimized over the years, making "Watch Me Die" a fun challenge.

Thanks to a post @D1m3 made and @taufan99 notifying me, I have updated the archive with about 4 more magazine press items for Doom 64 in 1995! These ones talk about SNES Doom in terms of "Doom 3" and mention Doom 64 in the same breath.
