Shaviro Posted March 19, 2003 I went to a LAN party this weekend and guess what? My old Logitech Wheel mouse dies! *SHOCK* *HORROR*! I replaced it with the Logitech MX700. It cost 60 dollars. A couple of days after I got home, my Geforce IV Ti4600 dies out on me. Hurray! It's not like it was expensive or anything! *cough* 517 dollars *cough*. I'll get a Radeon 9700Pro tomorrow and I hope it will last a little longer! :P It costs 428 dollars, btw. Oh well. At least I'll get a faster machine! My new specs: Intel Pentium IV 1700mhz <---I need to replace it! ASUS P4T-F <---I also need to replace that! ATi Radeon 9700Pro <---hurray! 256mb PC800 RDRAM <---I'd like to replace that as well! 4 IBM Hard disk drives (120gb, 45gb, 40gb, 8gb) Logitech MX700 mouse Logitech keyboard of some wireless sort. To the hardware graveyard: nVIDIA Geforce IV Ti4600, Logitech wheel mouse. Goodbye brave warriors! :~( On the plus side: uhmm... You think of something! 0 Share this post Link to post
boris Posted March 19, 2003 On my graveyard (stuff that died lately) -100mbit hub -40x cd-rom drive -16x plextor cd-rw (that fucking thing wasn't 2 years old, was ~225 euros when I bought it!) -256mb ddr -my headset -2 power supplies (ok, they still work, but the graves are already there; to fans won't work correctly anymore) 0 Share this post Link to post
Little Faith Posted March 19, 2003 Two keyboards (one from an uncontrollable sneezing incident) and my cd-rw drive got stolen by some asshat. 0 Share this post Link to post

Use Posted March 19, 2003 CPU fan fizzled out weeks ago, uhm... at LAN party back in august the fan fell off my geforce4 ti4600. It was off for at least two weeks before I noticed, when one day I load up warcraft III and the screen is all fucked up. Took two hours of dorking around before I open the case and see the fan dangling by its powercord. The card works fine still. I didn't pay nearly that much for it ($350), Shaviro must've got his when it came out. No other problems lately, I've got plenty of spare parts if something pops up. 0 Share this post Link to post

Fletcher` Posted March 19, 2003 My soundcard is on the verge of death, yet it hangs on oh so barely. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted March 19, 2003 * one 24x CD-rom (what I get for buying a remanufactured computer) * one IntelliMouse Explorer (in travel) * two keyboards (and this current one is on its way out as well...) I think my motherboard may be on its last legs as well, but I'm planning to replace that soon. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted March 19, 2003 My modem doesn't hang up properly, so I have to disconnect the actual line whenver I get off the Internet. My printer's screwed up and only wants to work about 20% of the time. It's pretty much worthless now. Somehow I managed to kill a 45GB hard drive, which really sucks. I could've definitely used that space. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lord FlatHead Posted March 19, 2003 My mouse and keyboard recently died from cigarette smoke/ashes overdose. They will be sorely missed. 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted March 19, 2003 This machine will be 5 years old very soon. We've had some good times. I met all you fags on this machine! And so far, one monitor has died (was replaced amazingly rapidly under warranty by Hansol), one hard drive (the only local disk) died leaving me with a lot of lost photos and doom files and work :( and just lately my second USB port has died, which needs sortng out, as I have at least three USB devices I want connected up at the same time. I hope to build a new machine this summer. 0 Share this post Link to post
Remilia Scarlet Posted March 19, 2003 So far only a few CD roms have gone bad on me. And they weren't burners. Although, I swear that my entire Toshiba laptop is going. I've been running in 800x600x16 for the past week and a half. And every time I put pressure on the left hand corner closest to me, it freezes 'till I tap on the underside of that corner. I think my vidcard is loose or something. Amazingly, I have an ancient 2x CD rom that uses this cartridge thing that still works flawlessly. If it didn't have some sort of funky SCSI connector, it'd be in my computer now. 0 Share this post Link to post
EllipsusD Posted March 19, 2003 My computer is about 4-5 years old. So far, none of the components that came with it have died. But I don't know how much longer that will hold true. The whole thing is dying, I can feel it straining itself to do even the simplest things. Oi. That sad thing is I got a CD burner about a year ago, and I found out a couple of days ago that it's on it's gone to greener pastures. It left behind about 12 episodes of Excel Saga (109 to 190 megs each) that I really need to get off this computer soon to free up space. 12 gigs just isn't enough. 0 Share this post Link to post

NailGunner Posted March 19, 2003 As optical drives are a mass-produced dime-a-dozen in this day in age, I've shitcanned my fair share. I also can plead guilty on the murder of a GeForce4 4200 after an ill-fated overclocking accident, as well as shattering the die on an AMD 2100+ during a ham-handed instalation. Hardware doesn't suck. The price you pay for it does. 0 Share this post Link to post
DEMOn Posted March 20, 2003 I'm waiting for Nightmare to respond to this.... that is, if his machine works well enough to see the internet. :( 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted March 20, 2003 Ah, yes, I think I'm indirectly responsible for the deaths of three Canon Laserjet printers. I have absolutely NO luck with printers for some reason. 0 Share this post Link to post
DOOM Anomaly Posted March 20, 2003 Hmmm...3 Keyboards 2 mouses 1 monitor 4 Computers (Specs all random and unknown to me) and thats all I can remember. :D 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted March 20, 2003 What the heck, aren't these things under warranty? 0 Share this post Link to post
Fletcher` Posted March 20, 2003 I think the only thing I 'killed' was an old linksys monitor. It lived a long and useful life during the doors era. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
GooberMan Posted March 20, 2003 My motherboard is officially fucked... it's the only component in my whole system that could cause the PC speaker to sound like a truck backing up, because every other component checks out fine... only net browsing I do is at work until I get a new computer (it's three years old now, more than past time for an upgrade). 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted March 20, 2003 One LiteOn cd-rom died after 3 years. My cheap-o brand moniter died like 6 months after I bought it. Luckily I had a warranty and the company dent me a sweet Viewsonic. 0 Share this post Link to post
DooMBoy Posted March 20, 2003 Let's see: Stuff That Has Been Replaced On My Computer: 3 monitors 2 keyboards 2 mice 4 hard drives (sure, let's all blame it on Doom!) 1 motherboard ATM, I don't think there's anything really, really wrong with my computer, physically or otherwise. Though I think my CD-ROM drive occasionally gets stuck when I attempt to open it. Oh well, it's not like I spend all day opening and closing my CD-ROM drive anyway :P But as much as I like this computer, it definitely needs to be updated. 4 years old and just getting older by the day. 0 Share this post Link to post
Stealthy Ivan Posted March 20, 2003 Dont feel bad... This kinda shit happens to every one. I had a system clock on my mother board take a shit, so my PC was fucked for a while (I could not even install windows again). Plus I have had a shit load of hard drives and graphics cards take a shit on me through out the years... 0 Share this post Link to post
DEMOn Posted March 20, 2003 I think I've busted 5 keyboards and at least 10 mice in my day. hardware doesn't fail on me, I fail it. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Tobester Posted March 20, 2003 My last computer, a 350mhz compaq, died last may. I got a new computer back in December, one that DOESN'T run doom at 4fps when it sees deep water or three monsters! Here's my old comp: CTX Monitor Generic Motherboard (I can't remember the name) AMDK-2 processor Compaq mouse 'Army' mouse pad that I received for free when I signed up for info Keyboard that makes crunchy noises when typing from the roaches and bits of bread inside it Onboard sound ATI Rage Pro (Tho for some odd reason NO game would recognize it as a Rage pro, and it would hang the comp sometimes when I watched DivX pornos) 12x cdrom (later changed to a 24x that didn't seem to want to read that high) 388 ram 2 hds, a 2gb and a 3gb New comp: Same CTX Monitor (Which I beleive was new when the movie 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day' was released, and only lets me get 800x600 resolution) Asus Motherboard AMD Athlon 2100+ (at 1.73 ghz) 20gb hd 512 ddr ram GeForce4 (Because I never go outside, this card let me see my FIRST LENS FLARE) SBLive! 48x (I think) cdrw 3-button mouse with wheel that cost me 2 bucks at Odd Lots and moves by itself sometimes. A keyboard I found in my closet. I think it belonged to my old 286. Ooh, and a really comfortable mousepad with a gel bubble to rest my wrist on. Altogether it cost me $730, three months ago, counting $50 I paid a few peeps to build it for me. It only has one problem: It gets hot fast. When me and ghost and boyo went out and and bought all the parts for it, we got the wrong kind of fan, so its only got one. But it only gets hot if I play RTCW too much (or with all the options set really high just to revel in the prettyness) or if I let my sister play the sims (Because it takes 14 1/2 hours to load that bitch up). 0 Share this post Link to post
sirjuddington Posted March 21, 2003 Heh, it seems people have quite bad luck with hardware compared to me :P All that's died on me is my old motherboard soundcard (a SB16 :P), and the first optical mouse I ever got, some microsoft one (same as the mouse I have at the moment actually), which died after about 3 months. Um, I also think the power supply on my dad's old computer busted once, or maybe it was the motherboard, can't remember. 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted March 21, 2003 That means your not abusing your computer enough. Throw it against the wall a few times, then you'll be a 1337 Ha><0r. 0 Share this post Link to post
Shaviro Posted March 21, 2003 YAY! Seems like I'll be getting all my money back! That means new CPU, motherboard and RAM for me! :D 0 Share this post Link to post
kain Posted March 22, 2003 heh couple optical drives ( died while trying to open it( it opened and closed repeatedly byitself untill i powered it down)) and one powersupply ( it was a cheap pos anyway ) now i have a company computer that was thrown away and that was needed was some greek loving ( newfans, some moding, paint, a tnt2, and a new powersupply)!! it runs absolutly fine for me. i just watch porn, and surf the web. if it can do that fine, then i am happy. 0 Share this post Link to post
