Sephiroth Posted May 3, 2003 well there are a few hardware items i wished that remained in use, or more common. what ones do u wish were still around superdisk- still around but hard to find. great drive to get. similar to zip except disks look like a floppy. holds 2 flavors 120MB and 200MB. uses optical technology and has an added plus. it is backwards compatible with floppy disks. I scored one from my moms work and i am impressed by it. its fast and easy, plus it is USB. i really use it because i did not install a floppy in my new system and there has been a number of times i needed to use one. syquest optical drive- fast and reliable. optical disks hold a max of 230MB. reads and rights as fast as a hard drive can. takes abuse. however i do believe syquest stoped makeing the drives, but they still make the disks. the only bad part is that most of them are SCSI based, though i like SCSI USB and firwire are easier wires to work with. I dont know if they made any one the drives in a USB fashion. though i have others, cd-r/rw, jazz drives and tape backups these are the best i have used. zips are common but dont like abuse, and i think they are still magnetic based(correct me if i am wrong) Jazz drives hold a shit load, next to a USB hard drive or DVD disk, but also dont like abuse. plus they can be bitches alot. infact mom's office use to use them until the got superdisks(which they still use) i can get an unlimited supply of jazz disks but i dont use that drive. what drives, hardware and other computer related items do u wish still remianed 0 Share this post Link to post
Tobester Posted May 3, 2003 Supar CGA cards THEY WILL MAKE A COMEBACK AND CRUSH ATI TIME WILL PROVE THIS 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted May 3, 2003 hey i have been playing around with a tandy 1000 286 system. honestly the CGA on it sucks. I have seen much better CGA on other computers. how about DOS coming back I wish windows remained a operating enviroment(like the x windows sytem on unix/linux) 0 Share this post Link to post
Tobester Posted May 3, 2003 heh I want xtree gold to come back there's an old 286 next to me with that on it and some furry porn enema stories I wrote when I was twelve 0 Share this post Link to post
Draconio Posted May 3, 2003 The ability to run old games well. It's a good thing that there are projects like DosBox to bring some of that back into functionality, as well as the source ports of DOS games to Windows (I downloaded the Duke Nukem 3D port for Windows the other day, haven't tried it out yet). 0 Share this post Link to post
DooMBoy Posted May 3, 2003 Yeah it would be cool to have DOS back in all future version of Windows, if only so people would stop making all those confounded "I have XP and Doom doesn't work, what do I do?" threads :) 0 Share this post Link to post

Gokuma Posted May 3, 2003 I had a 120mb superdisk drive. It was sweet being able to read normal disks much faster, but it died. 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted May 3, 2003 Ugh, I hate my zip drive. The disks often go corrupt on me. I wish the Dreamcast hadnt died. If only so that I wouldnt feel so silly about having bought one. 0 Share this post Link to post

fraggle Posted May 3, 2003 DooMBoy said:Dude, that's not normal. In fact, it's bizarre. Define 'normal'. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted May 3, 2003 fraggle said:Define 'normal'. Found this on MathWorld: The normal vector, often simply called the "normal," to a surface is a vector perpendicular to it. Often, the normal unit vector is desired, which is sometimes known as the "unit normal." The terms "normal vector" and "normalized vector" should not be confused, especially since unit norm vectors might be called "normalized normal vectors" without redundancy. When normals are considered on closed surfaces, the inward-pointing normal (pointing towards the interior of the surface) and outward-pointing normal are usually distinguished. The normal vector is commonly denoted N or n, with a hat sometimes (but not always) added to explicitly indicate a unit normal vector. 0 Share this post Link to post

Gokuma Posted May 3, 2003 Assmaster said I wish the Dreamcast hadnt died. If only so that I wouldnt feel so silly about having bought one. That's a beastly system with still very much to offer (still more than GameCube, X-Box, PS2 IMO). And you shouldn't feel silly if you bought it yesterday. It's just hard to find the good stuff anymore. But you can always burn your own NesterDC v7.1 or SMEG. I wish Saturn stayed, heh. 0 Share this post Link to post
fraggle Posted May 3, 2003 DooMBoy said:See what Fredrik has already written. I meant it's not exactly normal for someone to see and write furry enema porn stories. No, the point I'm making is there is no such thing as "normal". Do you think its "normal" to be playing a 9 year old game with long outdated graphics and features? By some people's standards, you're an abnormal freak. Of course, theres nothing wrong with playing doom - its just rather uncommon nowadays. Everyone is different and "normal" people do not exist. 0 Share this post Link to post
Use Posted May 3, 2003 I fucking love Doom. Hey Danarchy do you have a working C64? I do, it has two drives and a shitload of pirated games. I should get those old disks out of the humid basement... 0 Share this post Link to post
Tobester Posted May 3, 2003 Yeah, my brother threw an ax at my head casue I smashed his c64. It's not like he was using it for anything tho. 0 Share this post Link to post

By some people's standards, you're an abnormal freak.Well, let me say this to you: you're the mastermind behind FreeDoom, a complete TC for Doom, which is a 9 year old game. Also, you've did some programming (and made your own port) for source ports, which bring life to a 9 year old game. By some people's standards you're an abnormal freak. 0 Share this post Link to post
