TRON Operating System (Not the game or movie)

Recommended Posts

I was looking at a website and came across an operating system being designed in Japan by a man named Professor Ken Sakamura. The OS is called TRON, and from what I read, it's open source, and can go into any sort of chip. The website I read this on (available here) said, "These are just two of the reasons why TRON is installed in most Japanese-made cellphones and digital cameras, as well as in many other electronic products, such as audio-visual devices, rice cookers, air conditioners, fax machines, karaoke machines, and car-engine control devices."

It's an open-source OS, and I hear it moves data extremly fast. The T-Engine website (part of TRON) listed something about having boards that are made for TRON that accept chips like the ARM7 and SH3-DSP. The site for the OS is tron.org

So, if (or when) this gets into the PCs, what do you think will happen? And what do you think of this OS?

TRON, wasn't that a movie?

Yes, from a long time ago.

[Simpsons quote]
Hibbert: Homer, this is your physician, Dr. Julius Hibbert. Can you
tell us what it's like in there?
Homer: Uh...it's like...did anyone see the movie "Tron"?
Hibbert: No.
Lisa: No.
Marge: No.
Wiggum: No.
Bart: No.
Patty: No.
Wiggum: No.
Ned: No.
Selma: No.
Frink: No.
Lovejoy: No.
Wiggum: Yes. I mean -- um, I mean, no. No, heh.

there's already an open source OS that runs on everything, it's called linux

(and when I say everything, I mean everything, right down to XBox, Furby and Mr. Spell and Speak)
