Avatar problem

I'm trying to change my avatar, to another custom one, but when I enter the url, and click save changes, a page comes up which says it's not a valid .gif of .jpg file. What gives? It is followed by the correct .gif expansion, and the URL is perfect.

Is it no larger than 36 x 36 pixels, and no more than 25000 bytes?

Or are you putting an url where it says "upload an avatar from your computer"?

Geocities doesn't allow remote linking. Save it to your HD and upload it from your harddrive.

my guess is that it has something to do with geocities and linking. maybe thats why?
