Where can I enable the smileys so that I can see them in the forum posts?

Currently it says Smilies are OFF and I can not find a place to turn them on.

They've been turned off "for great justice". At least that's what it says in the FAQ. (I think)

You can't.

They were enabled till one day they were turned off because they were getting damn annoying. Good riddance, :), ;), :P works for me.

They are explicitly disabled as they arent wanted here.

It is the DW forum staff's philosophy to have as few unnessecary images on the site as possible. Primarily out of sympathy with those of us with lesser connections, but also for aesthetic reasons.

Therefore:

Graphic sig blocks are banned.
Smiley graphics are disabled.
Avatars are at a meagre 64x64 (and still full of character I mind you).
Quoting images is disabled.

Heh, avatars are actually at 36x36.

And yeah, we want to try and keep the forums kind of uncluttered and fast to load.

A few standard smilies would be quite good IMO, but regular yellow smiley faces would not be in keeping with the look of these boards. Now if someone fancies doing small doomguy faces with the appropriate expression...

I say, good riddance! I personally don't like the standard smilies... I use the ones more common in Japan o_O;... not out of fangirlism, but, out of the more accurate expressions you can get with them, without being transformed into god-awful emoticons...
