Electro Posted August 4, 2003 I decided on a nice little poem... ;) hehehe Its a good poem! ________________________________________________________ A Poem For Computer Users Over 30 A computer was something on TV From a science fiction show of note. A window was something you hated to clean And ram was the cousin of a goat. Meg was the name of my girlfriend And gig was a job for the nights. Now they all mean different things And that really mega bytes! An application was for employment. A program was a TV show. A cursor used profanity. A keyboard was a piano. Memory was something that you lost with age. A CD was a bank account, And if you had a 3-in. floppy You hoped nobody found out. Compress was something you did to the garbage, Not something you did to a file, And if you unzipped anything in public You'd be in jail for awhile. Log on was adding wood to the fire. Hard drive was a long trip on the road. A mouse pad was where a mouse lived, And a backup happened to your commode. Cut you did with a pocket knife. Paste you did with glue. A web was a spider's home, And a virus was the flu. I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper, And the memory in my head. I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash, But when it happens they wish they were dead. ________________________________________________________ I wonder if there is more like this. ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted August 4, 2003 I'm old enough that I remember a life before computers/Internet was thoroughly pervasive. Kids growing up today will probably never crack a real encyclopedia while I remember get out the old Funk & Wagnalls set to look up information for school projects. 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted August 4, 2003 I remember having no computer/internet around either. There were a couple of consoles like master system kicking around back as far as I can remember. I grew up with the first real console wars. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted August 4, 2003 The first real console wars ruled because back then it was more about the games rather than the money you know =] Mario vs Sonic! Now it's let's see what retarded games can be most well advertised for Sony's playstation 0 Share this post Link to post
Aliotroph? Posted August 6, 2003 I've had a computer since it was common to turn it on and see "A:\>" and think "huh?, back when a 640k RAM test could be watched. My dad has used computers since an HD cost $10,000 and was the size of a fridge and card sorters were cool. The oldest console wars I can remember was NES vs. Sega Genesis. Those 80's commercials were hilarious. 0 Share this post Link to post
