Diversity of musical taste

Recommended Posts

The correct version is 'My cousin from Minnesota's band'

It's called a clitic if I remember correctly. English doesn't have very many, but there are a few other examples such as 'The Queen of England's hat' not 'The Queen's of England hat'

Basically in these cases the possessive -s goes onto the entire phrase, not just the noun.

Define hard rock/metal.

I listen to mainly German metal (Rammstein and Megaherz) currently, but I'll probably move on to something else in a few years anyway.

Oh and Mr. Chris, I don't think you can generate HTML playlists in WinAmp 3, so, downgrade.

i, like assmaster, listen to everything. the pogues might be the best band of all time, though. and burzum might be in a tie with them.

I really don't for the most part, and I despise Death/Black Metal. The only metal bands I like are Black Sabbath, Megadeth, System of a Down, Monster Magnet, and thats about it unless you include grunge which I love.

i had the same problem earlier.

reinstalled winamp and it worked fine

also, it does not generate to the winamp directory

it generated to C:\Documents and Settings\Tobester\Local Settings\Temp\ for me, so I suggest checking your version of that, unless you use win98 or some old win like that, in which case i dont know.

I'm currently listening to 'Vital Remains'. When Glen Burton howls "LET THE KILLING BEGIN" you know he fucking godamn means it. "At War with God" also strikes a chord of total wrath and hatred.

Some other stuff i'm listening to is Severe Torture, Bathtub Shitter, Skinless, Cattle Decapitation, Pentagram, Incubus, Fear Factory, Tatu, Merle Haggard, Justin Timberlake, Tool, and that new Limp Bizket cd.

everyone says everything but one would have to be simple-minded not to like a broad variety of genres...

I have favourite bands/groups/people in every single genre except country or opera but my current favs off the top of my head are:

Goa/psytrance: Infected Mushroom
Acid Jazz: Jamiroquai
Metal: slayer
Industrial: Nine inch nails
Industrial/goa: Velvet Acid Christ
Reggae: Bob Marly
Video Game Soundtracks: Megaman series, Castlevania series
Classical: Bartok, Vivaldi
Oldschool Jazz: Bobby Hutcherson, Milt Jackson
Breakbeat: Free Agents
Demoscene: Purple Motion, Elwood

Currently I am going nuts over Jamiroquai but I am sure that will soon pass.. also I am probably forgetting a lot

"heh"? more like "WTF?", I think.

Instead of saying what I like I'll go the other way around. I totally despise:

  • RnB/Gangsta Rap and all those bad-boy/nice-girl-next-door "featuring" collaborations
  • Every next new numetal band that manages to become famous, even though they're all the same as what was done before (save for Evanescence, their lead vocalist is cute and they have those Satriani-type guitar solos I love)
  • Israeli psytrance (what's the deal with that anyway? It's all a bunch of e-heads bouncing at parties, heh, and besides everyone in Portugal listens to it now - they're the "hippies of the 21st century" or something)
  • Portuguese folk music (I mean 'folclore'. Try listening to it. I dare you!)
  • Pure pop music and pop bands (Pure as in, "U2 are ok" and "N*Sync should die")

And every one of their songs sounds the same.

Well, I think that will do. I have at least 1 CD by all the artists listed, some are only things like 4 track EP CDs but most (98%?) are full albums and many (more than 50%) I’ll have multiple albums of. That probably only represents about half the CD’s I own. I have about the same again in vinyl, about half as much in cassettes and only a few MP3s (about 20 or so CDs full – so I guess that does represent a few thousand tunes). Not saying I’m especially proud of all the albums, or that I would admit to some of them in public (lets face it – no-one is going to read that list) but I do listen to them all on a reasonably frequent basis – given time constraints etc.

Yeah, so fairly diverse within the sphere of "popular music" whatever that may be. A bit thin on the ground with classical stuff, very thin on the ground with opera, and virtually nothing that could be considered jazz.

Enjay's list

Damn... I only manage half as long a list, and that is if I include artists of which I have (at least a couple of) downloaded songs. I'm pretty sure I could beat it if I counted artists in my dad's record collection though :P

Anyone here heard of 'Die Toten Hosen'? BEST GERMAN PUNK EVER!!!!

a few years ago they did a gig in dusseldorf with Bad Religion and Goldfinger in front of 30,000. I curse my self for not being there, that's like, all my favourite fucking bands!:@:@:@

Also, does anyone here like Glenn Miller? (my grampa listens to 'em)

Maybe just old kid. I've probably had almost as long to collect my stuff as Fredrik's dad. First record I remember buying was around 1970. Mind you, it was something like the Mickey Mouse Club album. :-) Or maybe I am so filthy rich that I don't even have to say please or thank you to anyone. Yeah, that's it. :-)

no its a serious question

I find it extremely nice when these numetal bands add solos to the songs

Oh god a music thread.

My taste is music is usually very diverse. If people make the effort of sending me stuff (such as Lut) I usually find after a few listens I'm enjoying it. I don't like anything simplistic or manufactured though.
